Don't understand what is going on with me!?! How can I consume so little and loose no weight. I seriously almost threw my scale through the window this morning. I'm 16 days post op and have only lost 12 lbs..and all of that during week one, heck I've even gained a pound. I'm drinking, getting in my Protein and vitamins...what could be the problem? I can't excersize yet as I still have pain on my left side. Suggestions? My scale is cowering in the corner ={

I feel your pain! I have been stuck and my scale is going to get thrown in the trash! I was complaining to my hubby... And he said "maybe you eat to much?" Only kidding... Lol but I burn 2,000 cal daily without exercise!! and only eat 500 shouldn't I just be melting away??? SO FRUSTRATING!

Incredible as it sounds, it is not that uncommon to actually gain weight immediately following the surgery. Your body is going through lots of changes and lots of healing right now. Trust the process and allow your body to find its own way, in its own time. Just keep doing what you're doing and before long you'll be posting how you lost XX pounds in a week! Stay focused on following the protocol, stay active, and stay away from the scales for at least a week and even longer if you can stand it. You're gonna love the new you!!

DL your words are wonderful and I trust your input. It's scary and I've even wondered 'did I even have surgery?' I'm still following everything just wondering why its not just coming off.

It seems like we all go into starvation mode in the beginning. Once you begin to get more calories in, believe it or not, you will see the scale start to move.

TOTALLY FEELING YOU.

I'm 2 weeks out today. Lost 16 lbs my first week; vacillated up and down 1.5 and ended my 2nd week only down another 1/2 pound.

I called my NUT just to check - and she said the same exact thing: your body needs to adjust, and especially to have dropped so much in the first week, it's totally normal to stall a bit. Just make sure I am getting in my Protein, Vitamins, and liquids, and it should pick back up.

I'm also SO looking forward to Monday, when I officially can move to Phase II and get some ACTUAL food! I'm so sick of these Protein shakes... I'm a salty girl, not sweets - they're killin' me!! =P

It sucks to stall, I'm 6 months out and it's getting harder, I exercise and eat 800 calories a day but still sometimes I want to scream then I think.....this is a lifelong journey nit a sprint.

Well....finally after 2 weeks, I weighed myself, down 4.0 pounds. Still annoying to be 4 weeks post-op and only down 14.0 pounds total. BUT on the bright/positive side it's a loss...period!

Better to lose weight even if slow then gaining a pound. I stall 1week then today got on scale lost 1 pound seems so slow. But I'm almost there I can feel it.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
