Show Of Hands (Part 2)

Recommended Posts

First off thank you all for the overwhelming response to my inquiry and just as many of you hoped, I am moving forward with the idea. Now I have a BIG opportunity for you to possibly get EXACTLY what you want from a Beri-Delicious meal.

What are some of your favorite "Regular Bariatric" meals? No matter if you are at the Clear liquids, full liquids, puree, protien shakes, soft foods, or full solids.

Let your voice be heard! I may even name a meal after you!

I serve something very similar but slightly different in presentation. I take a butterflied chicken cutlet and make roulade stuffed with aromatics. It's pan seared then baked with a seasoned cheese and panko bread crumbs (pouch friendly amount) for crunch. Delicious!!!

I'm doing a demonstration at the November support group for this recipe but with turkey breast for thanksgiving. Stuffed with a pouch-friendly stuffing that the whole family would love.

For those in the supper light eating stage after purée food, my mom made me cucumber slices and took a small hole out of it and added a flat olive. It made me feel like I had appetizers!! It was just bursting with flavors.

I did make a version of Shepard's Pie. No corn, though! I substituted peas in place of the corn! It was yummy & pouch friendly, too!

Still on Protein shakes at the moment - SO sick of them! But what's been getting me through is my Reeses shakes, lol.

chocolate Protein shake, blended with ice, a little 1% milk, and a tbsp of creamy Peanut Butter. What a difference it makes! The pb is really the kicker - very good in a vanilla Protein shake too!

Moving onto soft foods on Monday - can't wait to start trying some of these food ideas!!!

Meatloaf, with mashed potatoes and fat free gravy and green Beans.

I can bet it would be good with mashed califlower when a chef puts the magic touch of spices in it :) I sure would try it.

OH I got an idea too....you know those smoothies in a pouch in the freezer. Well how about Protein shakes with added fruit or other bits you can blend :)

Oh my I have made a lighter chicken ala king minus the pastry and that feels good in my belly. Homemade Soups are my favorite. Us PA dutch know how to make the best comfort Soups ever! 'naked ravioli' ... Ricotta, egg, cheese, spices and a little sauce. Egg, goat cheese omelette with fresh basil and oregano yum! Also a little polenta topped with a homemade sausage and Tomato sauce. but I am craving two dishes my brother posted on instagram last night. Gonna have him make them for me this weekend.

Yum I do that. The skins don't go down well for me. How about you? For the kids I put it on a piece of toast with mayo.< /p>

My favorite meal right now is my take on a French dip sandwich. I use 100% whole wheat flat bread (about a 1wide inch strip) put roast beef & skim mozzarella, wrap & dip in a low sodium au jus. It's healthy & comforting oh.... And easy! Something my kids will eat as well. Also love taco Soup. I use 3 to 4 different kinds of Beans and my moms home made canned tomatoes (perfect blend of spicy and yum!) It's packed with Protein and easy on the pouch.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
