Ok my bariatric family I need your help with something. Many of you already know that I am a chef and restauranteur and I may be embarking on a new venture with the medical group that performed my surgery. Here's the deal:

I'm sure you've all seen Smart Ones, Weight atchers, etc. meals in your grocers freezers. How ould you feel if there were Bariatric-specific meals available to you in the same freezers? I'm not talking bland food either! I mean flavorful food that you'll love!

What are your thoughts? I'm even thinking of producing foods specific to the eating stage you're in

I think this is a fantastic idea especially for those that do not cook. I like you (not professionally by any means) cook and well if I may say so! I personally believe in home cooking as much as possible. However I know and have many, many friends that do not cook and live on frozen meals. As well as in the support group that I go, I would say 75% of them do ot cook. I think it is a great venture and I know that that is how Bariatric Advantage started and they have cornered the market! Many blessings!

Thats an awsome idea!!!

It would be great to buy bariactric friendly foods at the grocery store! It would really help people like me that have trouble staying within their "diet" because they either aren't sure what to eat or are bored with their choices. It is also great for single people or for moms of picky eaters.

After surgery, when I was well enough to stand up and cook for family, I became a little depressed because here I was cooking regular food for the family but had to eat pureed slop! It also caused me to cheat a few times until I finally dumped on something and learned to obey the rules! lol

I think you would be a rich and very appreciated man if you made this happen!!

I think it would be great. I would say pack it with Protein and low salt and sugar. Also please make some with regular sugar - some of us are allergic to the artificial sugar.

That is such a good idea!! I always leave it to my customers to manage allergies. It will be good to have options!

I can't have any of the sugar free stuff and it really limits things for me. It would be nice to have options.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
