cmarie317 24 Posted September 11, 2012 This may be a dumb question like i should know this but does getting the correct amount of Protein increase my weight loss? I currently feel stuck at my weight and only get half my protein. If I got it all plus some would I lose more? I am only two weeks out and have lost 14lbs. I want more!! I havent seen a change in like a week. I have to increase exercise also I know this. What kind of exercise do u do?
cmarie317 24 Posted September 11, 2012 I'm feeling stuck like I was before surgery.. worst feeling ever. I knew this wouldn't be a quick fix but I thought it'd be different. I know in only two weeks out but hate feeling discouraged already!!

kisersassy 369 Posted September 11, 2012 Well the Protein helps your body heal.after surgery. 2 weeks post op the 14 pounds is pretty good from what I have read from other posts. When you get cleared for exercise besides walking you will lose a little faster. You just need to let your body heal
punk.rock.mama 101 Posted September 11, 2012 Protein also helps you build/rebuild muscle tissue (as well as the healing) or also helps your body metabolize other nutrients, here is a link to some info if you want more detail http://www.wellnessresources.com/tips/articles/how_protein_helps_weight_loss/ Sent from my iPod touch using RNYTalk 1 Cheryl Barfoot reacted to this
mommytyree 98 Posted September 11, 2012 Yes! Protein helps us gain muscle and lose fat. It will also help from losing so much hair. Must get all your Protein in!!! Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk
BBdoodle 483 Posted September 11, 2012 You are only two weeks out... give your body some time to first of all heal, then you will be cleared for exercise at which time it will start to melt off. Losing a pound a day is pretty good in my book.
cmarie317 24 Posted September 11, 2012 Okay thank you everyone! The encouraging words help!
DLCoggin 1,788 Posted September 11, 2012 Yes, getting ALL of your daily Protein will absolutely help you lose weight. But that's just part of the story and it very well may not be the most important part. Protein is critically important in the healing process following surgery. Protein is used extensively to repair and regenerate damaged tissue. Protein is a key player in helping the body fight off bacterial and viral infections. Protein will help minimize muscle loss during rapid weight loss. And protein will help reduce Hair loss to a minimum. Your body needs protein!! A lot of it!!
