shrinkingDEE 60 Posted September 10, 2012 Before everything revolved around food. If I was going out with friends I made sure to pick a place with good food, for work and on weekends I normally already knew what I was going to eat. Now, since food is one of the last things on my mind (I have to be reminded to eat, that's how far off my mind food is) I can enjoy activities more. I don't need food to be the highlight of my night. And I can shop in "regular" sized stores. I'm much more confident too. 1 TinyMamiOf3kids reacted to this

Ellie_Grace 271 Posted September 10, 2012 Let me count the ways! I have more joy in my life because I look forward to doing things! For example: I look forward to exercising, crazy and never thought I say that but I hate missing a day and I look forward to going around people and hearing the positive comments I get now. Next I have gained self-confidence in my body (sadly I swear I still feel skinnier than I am, but I am getting there) and more much more energy. I have gained pride in my ability to stick to this... I eat right, I exericise, I take my Vitamins and try to maintain a positive attitude etc. I gained the ability to dream about my future and fulfilling many lifetime goals I never thought possible. Like running, hiking, riding a bike again, amusement park rides, wearing pretty lingerie again and many other silly, fun, crazy and wonderful things I now will get to experience. I got to say good bye to most of my aches and pains the possibility of diabetes is now gone, I was pre-diabetes Sex life has improved to say the least, which makes for a happier couple buying clothes and finding that most of them look good without even having to try them on, plus I can find many clothes my size to buy at thrift stores so my options are many, how fun is that. did I mention energy to spend time with my family and learning to go things and not just sit and watch tv every weekend? Well there is more but I will stop there for now... Needless to say this has changed so much and I am only 3 months out, can you imagine what it will be like when I am a year out? I have had no complications so YAY! 2 Cheryl Barfoot and Immagetitdown12 reacted to this

JustJenn 542 Posted September 10, 2012 I'm much less resentful somehow...lol I can relate. I'm happy... I wasn't miserable pre op I just see now I was in survival mode. I was always keeping busy ... Never took pride in how I look. I was always tired and that makes for a pretty crappy & resentful person. Now even though all of my cloths are big & mentally I'm not ready to shop I still dress up I have a renewed self confidence and haven't left the house with wet out of the shower hair and no make up. & that confidence shows in personality, my work, my smile, & my marriage for sure!!!! I'm a happy mommy & wife. Surgery 7/25/
music1618 879 Posted September 10, 2012 For me it was getting off of my steroids which I have been taking for five years for rhuematoid arthritis. It is what was making me gain the weight and when I went to my last doctor visit she said my swelling and joints looked the best she had seen them in years. I am 32 years old and wanted to live my life free of pain and getting off a drug that has bad side effects and is bad on your body. 1 Cheryl Barfoot reacted to this
