The Excess Skin....hanging.

Recommended Posts

Ok all you successful post-op hotties and studs....I have a question.

Due to my pre-surgery weight and size I am VERY concerned about keeping myself from being a sagging mess. I've already invented in a 10# kettle bell and am seriously considering a device called the Tower 200.

Will weight training help with the skin and sag issues post surgery????

Any and all help is welcomed.

Jeff

And keep your skin "oil". Lol. I mean use a lot of good lotions. Some say ones with collegian help. It helps with elasticity. Won't shrink it but it does help. When I lost 60 pounds last year it helped with the wrinkling.

I really really want to do crossfit... I am infatuated with the sport/gym type. I keep talking myself out of it ... Like I'm not there yet. Let me lose xx amount and I'll start.

I just got Insanity going to start tonight. Lol I think I'm insane to even try but it gets me closer to crossfit :)

Thanks John! What's worse is my friend owns his own crossfit gym. LOL I know he would be crazy supportive but ughhhh. I can say I'll give it a try and depending how I do after will say if keep it up or try again later.

Your muscle has nothing to do with your skin, of course lifting weights and cardio are fantastic for you in general but it all depends on your age, how big you were. The younger you are the better chance you have of your skin not hanging but if you have streched your skin past the point of no return then there is nothing you can do to repair except for surgery. There are "little" things you can do to help by keeping hydrated, invest in a good body lotion, and not loose weight too fast.

I disagree ...... You ever watch The Biggest Loser? Maybe if you're lazy and don't wanna put the work in then yes surgery is the way. I've seen people with my own eyes do it. Don't cop out , it can be done!

What's the secret? Surgery is the 3rd surgery I'm having if lifting weights don't help.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
