boundtochange 2 Posted September 8, 2012 Hello, I have completed all the prerequisites for weight loss surgery, but before a surgery date can be scheduled, I need to lose 22 more pounds. I recently lost 7 pounds, but it took a month with a lot of hard work. My metabolism must be very slow. Any suggestions? Do you think they will eventually schedule it since I am so close to my goal weight?
JustJenn 542 Posted September 8, 2012 Would your pcp prescribe an appetite suppressent? kisersassy 369 Posted September 8, 2012 Most times it is a requirement that insurance companies have. And what I have read surgeons like to see you are commited to the changes that have to be made after surgery. I have read in research if the doc tells you to lose you have to lose no way around it

LosingItForMe2011 320 Posted September 9, 2012 My surgeon wanted me to lose 20-24 pounds before surgery. I lost about 14 pounds and they scheduled the surgery. The main thing they want is a better diet so that your liver will shrink. It makes it easier on you and the surgeon for the surgery because they have to move your liver aside so they can get to your stomach. When we diet the first organ to lose weight and fattiness is the liver. It's also the first organ to gain if we don't eat right so it's important to keep a good diet before your surgery to keep your liver the healthiest.
kisersassy 369 Posted September 9, 2012 Jenn do you by chance know what it was he prescribed?

That is great to hear. I just worry that it will take months to lose it. I am crossing my fingers to have the surgery before January, since I me my deductible for the year.
