Yes, Yes, Yes!!! My date is Oct. 15, 2012!!! I've waited for this date since 2009. Now that I have a date for my RNY I have been cleaning house, refridorator, cabinets, discarding all old paper and crap that I don't want or need any more. I think I'm purging the old to make room for the new life that I'm praying and expecting. I'm looking at ordering my vitimans, Protein Drinks and picking up few jars of organic baby food from Whole Foods. No one knows about my sergery yet and I don't plan on telling anyone, the guy that I'm dateing will only know that I need him to pick me up from the hospital after I'm discharged but, he won't know why. lol I'm just being very private about it for now, there are a bunch of worrie worts around me and I don't need that stress. I'm counting down the days, and still have a lot to do in pre-op testing and last group nutrition appointment so we are off to a great start! I'm happy and ready! Best of luck to all of you having RNY this month!!!

I was just approved for surgery! So I believe my surgery will be in October. I know I have to have a gallbladder ultrasound and 2 week Protein liquid diet. I called my surgeon yesterday to schedule but had to leave a message for the nurse. Getting anxious and excited and nervous all at once.

My date is scheduled for Oct 15. I cannot wait!!! Ive been overweight my whole life and am ready for the new me. I cant wait to see everyones progress. Good luck to all!

I, too, have been overweight moat of my life. When the Nut asked me what was my ideal weight, I just sort of looked at her like...uh, the smallest I ever remember being as an adult is 227.

Yeah, me too when I was asked about what my ideal weight was I didn't know what to say. I'm 270 now and the smallest I can remember in high school was 190 which was still big I would be happy at 220. I'm very tall

5 11" so Im the same hight as Michelle Obama I cant even see being as small as her. I wonder how much she weighs , anybody know? Speaking of being anxious, I spend so much time on here that It's Un real. I'm going to have to give myself some time restrictions for researching, bloging looking up and watching you tube videos of WLS, so I can get some other things done. Since I've gotten my date its just all that I can think about. I even find my self looking on line at clothing stores that I wouldn't even step foot in because I knew that the only things I could fin into in those stores were the ear rings lol. Now, I'm stalking there websites. lol I think for my hight my weight ideal weight might be 145-150, but that may be to small, but we shall see :-) I'm just going to enjoy the ride down Get Little Street.

LOL! I was asked the same question. I chose 175 because I remember I weighed 181 in the 8th grade and wanted to be less than that. Right now I'm 5'7 and 394. Highest ever was 402...I about passed out :(. So 175 sounds like a dream! I also find myself looking at 'regular sized' clothes. It's exciting to think about!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
