I was told no pastas no bread until goal weight. pastas and breads have carbs in them that turn to sugar during digestion.

I was told no types of bread or Pasta for 6months at least.. I don't dare try anything my surgent told me not to.. what's the point of this surgery if were just gonna eat the same fatty foods..

You should be able to have everything, moderation is the whole point of any bariatric surgery. I have pasta most days I'm 6 weeks post op. I've lost 3 stone (42lb) 4 stone to go

.I serve every meal in a little ramakin with two table spoons of food in. We need to have a balanced diet and gain control of our mind. Refined sugar isn't on our menu, but a LITTLE pasta with fish, meat and sauce....no worries. The hardest part of this whole process is learning how to eat again but eating right! Xx

I am not supposed to have bread, rice, or Pasta until 6mos either, not because they are carbs, but because they are often not tolerated.

Hi Shonabear!

Thanks for your thoughts! I am now 3 weeks post op. I have a really hard time getting my liquids in but other than that all is great. I'm now down 15 pounds and 23 inches. I have started eating regular food...soft foods including some soft meats. I have not....at least to this point had any complications or discomfort. I've not had any pain since the day after surgery. I'm so very thankful I'm doing this well!

I'm 3 weeks out. I can't have any breads or meats yet. My surgeon allows his patients to have Pasta, as long as you chew very well. I've had no problems. Down 30 pounds.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
