I miss my coffee and when I go back to work I don't know what will help the long miles go by. I have done everything the doctors have told me to do. I may have to go cheat on this one myself. And I can't stand Decaf.< p>To top it off we just spent 300 on one of the Keurig k cup coffee makers you know one cup at a time in under one min that thing is the bomb we love it.

Besides If DL says its ok that works for me just kidding DL . Nobody said we have to give up living to lose weight

I love tea too and as many if not more health benefits than coffee!! Have you tried Republic of Tea teas? Huge selection and they are absolutely delicious!!

I have not tried them. I usually stick to teas from my local tea shop since I like loose leaf tea. I also love teas from Traditional Medicinals. I'll look up Republic of Teas. Are they keurig as well?

I can't really afford a keurig but maybe it will be my tax return splurge next year :)

I had a stress test today and if that was not bad enough I was told I could not have caffeine after midnight the day before. This was really tough for me. I only drink ONE cup of coffee in the morning but I NEED it. LOL

How soon post-op did you drink coffee and did you use creamer?

M

Oh trust me she needs her coffee in the morning !!!!

I started drinking coffee again shortly after I went back to work. I held off for about 2 months. My nutritionist said I could have it at 3 weeks. Honestly though, I can barely make it through a whole cup, and I used to drink it till like noon every day.

Dl I am 3 months post op and I drink regular caffeinated coffee. Is that bad ?

I was told after three months, as long as you drink an extra glass of Water for each cup of coffee it would be okay. Again every surgeon/nutritionist is different!

No Republic is not k-cups. They have both "bagged" (they use a very different round bag) and loose leaf teas. Here's a link to their website - http://www.republicoftea.com/default.aspx?crcat=branding~republicoftea&crsource=adwords&crkw=republic%20of%20tea&crcampaign=11050524123&gclid=CPKKxIezprICFShxQgodQyUABA . You'll notice that they have a whole Republic of Tea "culture" that is a lot of fun!

Hey dude! My surgeon recommends that you stick with Decaf for life if possible. But that said, doctors are trained to be conservative and give their patients the strongest health related advice possible. I think staying away from caffeine for up to three months post-op is probably a good idea. After that, I think caffeinated coffee is probably not a major concern in the overall scheme of things (unless you have a history of high blood pressure, ulcers, etc). I love coffee and fully expected to start drinking caffeinated coffee after 90 days post-op. The only reason that I've stuck with decaf is that I find Keurig to be so superior to other coffee makers that I'm fine with the decaf. And I occasionally have a caffeine cup as a treat - Starbuck's Caffe Verona is just superb and as far as I know, they don't make it in a decaf. Bottom line - if my choice was caffeinated coffee or no coffee at all, I'd be drinking caffeinated!!

Did the Decaf coffee thing this morning only with real French vanilla creamer wasn't bad I could do decaf that way.

We have a friend in Maine that sends us New England brand coffee extra bold extra dark so far that's the only place we can find it and they have it in hole bean or they grind it for you 14.95 a pound we only use it every now and then. Don't know where they get it they won't say. (some stores around us carrie the brand but not the extra bold extra dark)

My wife loves the republic of teas we have dozens in the back room . I like the the three gardens Breakfast black

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
