Happy 2B Me,

My fills have only been lasting anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks. Thereafter I have maintained weight but not lost. Sometimes I go right in for another fill because I am motivated to keep losing, other times like at the holidays, I wanted a little more room to enjoy eating a little larger portions but still maintain my weight. My 2nd fill in October only lasted 3 weeks because my stomach shrunk. I went from 1.6cc to 2.0cc. Likewise, my 3rd fill in early January only lasted 3 weeks because the fat shrunk around my stomach so this past week I got my 4th fill. I went from 2.0 to 2.5. It has nothing to do with a weakness but with success - I'm losing weight and fat so the band is not as effective at the lower fills. I asked the tech," Will I reach 4ccs and then the band won't work?" She told me not likely, but that they can actually go more than 4cc if the doctor approves. So what you are experiencing is normal!

I haven't been posting either, it's embarrassing when you aren't losing as quickly as others. I have been having problems with restriction. I do have restriction, but every time I get a fill, the restriction goes away within 3-4 weeks. And about 2 weeks prior to my cycle, I crave chocolate like crazy. Not just chocolate, either. I crave food like crazy - it seems like it's worse than pre-band. I am kind of at my wit's end

Hi, we are THE SAME. I feel reluctant to get fills b/c I feel like 2.5 is a lot. I know, stupid right? If that band holds 4cc+ then 4cc would be "a lot". But I'm scared I will push it then be all PBing up the wazoo.

That's the same reason I didn't want to tell anyone. I didn't want to feel like a lap band poster child. Unfortunately my husband and parents couldn't keep their mouths shut. Eh, you just roll with it. We know what it's all about. That's what matters.

This is what I do when someone asks me a rude question or something that is none of their business. I just turn to them and look them directly in the eyes and say "why do you ask?" And then I shut up and wait for their response. They are usually at a loss for words and very embarrased. Oh well, their bad!

We sold our home one time and a "friend" asked me how much did you make on it? I just said, "why do you ask." She was so embarrased and stammered "oh I was just wondering." I didn't respond anymore to what she had said and the subject was dropped! We are still friends:)

I am discovering a lot of foods I can't eat anymore though, like scrambled eggs, any type of bread, ground beef, etc. I'm getting tired of eating the same things, so I need some inspiration! lol What are you all eating these days? I'm especially stuck for Breakfast and lunch. I can't find any type of Cereal that I can eat without getting stuck, and now with eggs out, I don't know what else to try, aside from yogurt, which I don't like all that much. Any ideas?

I live mainly on cottage cheese, hearty Soups, fish (NOT over cooked..very moist), ground beef (high fat..makes it more moist), malt o' meal, oatmeal, cream of wheat, black Beans (mushed), and my favorite, Jello-O Marbled Dessert...recipe below. For breakfast, if I'm even hungry, I grab a High Protein Slim Fast since that's about all that will go down until noonish. Just keep trying differant things. Some days I can get scrambled eggs down, others I can't.

Good Luck,

Steph

Jello-O Marbled Dessert

1 box sugar-free Jell-O favor of your choise

1 (8 oz) container soft cream cheese

1/2 cup sour cream

1 cup whipping cream

2 teaspoons Spenda

Prepare Jello-O as directed on box. When almost set, beat with an electric mixer until thick and creamy. Beat in cream cheese and sour cream. Set aside. In another bowl, beat whipping cream and Splenda until soft peaks form. Fold into Jello-O misuture, allowing to marble. Spoon into dessert dishes and chill for 2 hours. Serves 8

NOTE: I use the full fat stuff because I am usually below my 1000 calories at the end of the day, but you can lower the calories/fat if needed by adjusting the products you use. This is so good, my husband prefers this over ice-cream many nights!!!

Hey guys, I just wanted to update you all about my hunger problems. I went in on Monday and got an adjustment, I had 2.0 cc and now I have 3.0 cc, my largest fill yet! I guess I just really needed it but I felt like getting it was giving up. I start solid foods again tomorrow so we'll see how it goes, wish me luck!!

How is getting a fill giving up? That is how the band is supposed to work. Without fills you are pretty much in the same boat as if you weren't banded. I am not trying to be superwoman here, I am just trying to give this thing a chance and lose weight. Lift that stone off your shoulders and let this thing do its job by giving it fills!!!! When you see the scales move or the inches shrink then you won't feel frustrated!!

Ok, you guys have motivated me to get another fill. I have been reluctant, like I want to "milk" each fill as long as I can. But what good is that if I gain weight waiting to accept that I may need another fill?

Thanks for the support guys! The fill is REALLY working. I am having a lot more problems now though, my first meal of the day be it breakfast or lunch doesnt like to go down. Its rather painful actually but then after that meal I'm okay the rest of the day, is this odd?? It is working well for loss though, I re-lost the 3 lbs I had gained and then lost 1 more :) So I'm now down 64 lbs and feeling good. :D

Jamie...I've given up on breakfast and I usually eat a pretty soft lunch. Usually by dinner I'm fine. Protein shakes...protein powder, yogurt, fresh fruit...are a great breakfast. You get used to it.

By the way....isn't it March? Shouldn't we have a new thread? LOL!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
