G'day Folks

Had to share an interesting thing that has happened in the last 2 weeks :) And I give credit to StephC - Thankyou Steph for your post a few weeks ago. You made comment to not drinking the Protein Drinks as they don't stay in the upper small pouch. Instead eat Protein foods first. I thought about that, as I was still having quite a few liquids and protein drinks to get through my day. So with your advice in mind, I did a search on high protein foods and filled the cupboards and fridge. On a new adventure I went, eating lots of fish, prawns, chicken with salad & steamed vegies. I've had a lot lot more energy, not anywhere as hungry and dropped and additional 1/2 kilo = 1.1 pound this week over my usual regular weight loss. I reccommend it to anyone who is having hunger problems. It really works :) with the added bonus of losing more weight :D

StephC:

Clears my throat - SINGING.........

Happy Birthday to YOU

Happy Birthday to YOU

Happy Birthday dear Steph

Happy Birthday to YOUuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!

Have a supacalafragalisticexpealidotious Birthday :)

CHEERS and Congrats to all on your weight loss & band Journey :)

awww you all are too sweet! Thank you thank you thank you.

Gerbera I'm glad I could help. I talked to my PA and he said to try to eat filling foods that will stay with you. It seems to be working for me too because I'm down 7 lbs this past 3 weeks. Woohoo!!! Its slowly coming off.

Hello...fellow bandsters...would like to join you in your Feb. Challenges...if you'll have me? I have a challenge of my own that I struggle with and that is drinking water...I am not a fan of water...how do you guys make yourselves drink it (I am sure lots of you probably don't have to "make" yourself like I do) but are there any tricks or routines you would be willing to share with me?:spit:

Before getting banded and recently post op, I read several posts about people being able to eat just as much as before, feeling hungry and not losing any weight. Some had complained about feeling like they are "doing it on their own"...like the band was not helping them at all. I thought these people were the exception, that they weren't trying hard enough or "eating around the band". I have had one fill, I do feel restriction and some things get stuck...but I do not feel full, or anywhere near satisfied with the small amts of food we should be eating. I saw the barium on the x-ray, it fills the little pouch, which looks like it would not hold more than an ounce, that is like a mouthful of food, and empty within 10 seconds. It seems like I'd feel immediately full, and not want to eat any more. but I feel as if I eat until my "big stomach" is full. So, my question is, do you all feel satisfied after a few bites? or maybe that 1/2-1 cup of food? feeling restriction makes you eat slower and chew better, but I don't want to stop until I feel full. I guess I need to change some of my habits? I just thought the band would make me feel full right away so I would stop eating. any comments? answers?

hisnhers ..hi.. well i try to lose weight faster by 800 cal only .. and the problem that i have that i didn't do any exercises until now .. so when i begin i will rise the limit up.. and about the fill for me i did it under fluoroscope so it was very easy & you feel the restriction more than now .. it is very helpful when you start to feel eating more than the acceptable amount.

vlynnfogg ..hi.. :welcome:Water is very important for your kidneys you must adapt your self to drink 2 L each day .. try to Carry a large bottle of Water with you all the time and drink it slowly .. you will get used to it .

sirena63 .. hi.. i didn't fell the restriction as before but i am satisfied faster than before with about 1-1/2 cup .. but my fear is that i may slip back to my old eating habits .. so i try to make it work even the restriction is minimum

Hi everyone. been awhile since I posted. I got my third fill today. I am at 4cc's. I really hope I have some restriction now. i have not lost any weight in the last 3 weeks. Does anyone else have 4 cc's in their band? If yes, how do you feel? How much can you eat?

I could have written this post myself. I'm anxious to see the responses.

Well I think I do have pretty good restriction and at first it seemed like I was eating a sm amt and I was not full but I had this feeling like no more could go down but it wasnt like the painful stuck feeling (had that b4 too) I still felt hungry and I only ate a little bit. But I made myself stop and after a few minutes I felt better-- satisfied! I think we have to remember we dont have to feel full- there is nothing wrong with just being satisfied. We have to learn to be satisfied without getting full. I have been doing this and it is working well for me. BUT you may need more of a fill too I am not sure.

Last night I ate 1/2 cup of cottage cheese for dinner. I was still hungry but did not let myself eat anymore. You know what, I survived the night!!!!!!!! I thought I would just be starving but I was not. I guess I need to start being content and not full!

Good for you bexlaygal-- See it does work!! =) I am sure glad you survived I would have felt terrible if you didnt! LOL It's hard though but the more I think about it even preband sometime I didnt feel full after a large meal or not for very long. I just have to learn some self control while using my band tool!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
