Has anyone been to Sturgis during the rally? I am trying to make this one a reality this year and would appreciate any tips as it will be a virgin trip for one so long in days and miles. Packing, etc.. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Carol, this will be my first time up there too. I've got a few stories from some of the people that I work and ride with, but that is about it.

I'm planning to do Sturgis and Vegas this year...in the same month. Sturgis for me and Vegas for my baby's 21st bday. Want to take her out legally on her birthday and then I'll be playing Grammie the rest of the time we're there. I'll be worn out by the end of August. Just glad to be getting this weight off because it'll make traveling so much easier!

Randy, when are ya'll headed up? I'm going with a friend of mine but I'm so worried he'll flake out. Do you have reservations somewhere already? I found a place called Shade Valley. They have 3 room tents with air beds, electricity and a fan all set up and waiting. I made my reservation tonight! I'm so excited! Going to make this a reality even if I have to make the trip by myself. :whoo: Next on the to do list is an Ipod for the music and a Tbag for some luggage. I don't have bags on my bike, don't like the way they look but I bet they're handy to have for trips.

Brandy if you get up there we'll have to have a lapbandtalk gathering...lol

:peace:

Carol, so far, no reservations at all. Still contemplating whether Joy will be joining me there or I will be doing the whole trip on my own. I guess the priority right now is ROT. I got all the details worked out for that just a couple of days ago.

We are going to a Benefit Poker Run for stroke victim (my Brother-in Law) Tim Goodrich on April 29th. Hope to see you there.

FYI: Tim does NOT know this Benefit Run is being put together for him!

Hopefully we can all come together with our bikes, streetrods or daily drivers

so that we can raise as much as we can to help him continue with the Re-Hab

that is making a difference. He's nearing the one year mark since the stroke,

although he has come a long way, there is still much that he can benefit from

through continued Re-Hab.

Hope you can be there, if not, we hope you will keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you

Tim is a member of North Snohmish Co. chapter ABATE & N Cascade & Puget Sound HOG.

Registration from 8 am to 10 am.

Starts at Wellers Chalet exit 208 off I-5 (Arlington) ends at Granit Falls Eagles.

Poker hands $5.00 per hand.

All poker hands must be turned in at Granite Falls Eagles by 12 noon

All bikes and vehicles must leave Wellers By 10 AM

Silent auction at the Granite Falls Eagles 12 - 2 pm. Breakfast buffet available

Sponsored by The Black Sheep

I'm sorry to hear about your brother-in-law's stroke. I hope the benefit is a success. One of my good friends had a minor stroke in February and we're blessed that she wasn't impacted more.

Randy, I haven't made the ROT arrangements yet. Planning on getting that done soon though. Have to find a cost efficient way to make the trip...lol Especially with the bigger one's planned already. If it comes down to it I would give up ROT this year to go to Sturgis but I'm hoping I don't have to. All I can say is thank goodness for tax refunds. It will be funding my joy rides this year. :shade:

Thanks Carol, We hope it to be a great success. He just turned 50, it was such a shock, he takes good care of himself, exercises, eats right, etc and for this to happen. I know they, my sister Sandi and Brother in law Tim will be going to Sturgis this yr also. Of course due to Tim's health they will take the motor home and leave their bikes at home.

Neveragain,

Welcome! :shade: This is definately a 'brand free' support zone! It's all about the riding and the experiences not the make and model! The more the merrier. Just think of the motley crew we'd all make cruising down the highway. We hope to see more of you!

I've been quite blue due to the rains we've been having. Not only can I not ride but I have discovered a leak in my roof. Good news though..only a hundred bucks to get it fixed. It's fabulous to know people who know people! Since we're in drought country though rain is always a good thing.

Hope everyone is doing well and riding hard! Or at least thinking about riding hard! :peace:

Neveragain...have a great riding day! I'm jealous as the rain is still falling today.

BLJ..congrats on the new Harley! I am sure ya'll will have fun! I didn't even know how to ride until last year. I was always on the back before and I didn't get to do that as often as I thought I should...lol It just dawned on me. It's three days until I've had my Babee for an entire year! If you haven't been in charge before I highly recommend taking a motorcycle safety course. That's where I learned and it was great going from day one of "you want me to do what with this?" to "woohoo..look at me riding over a board" on day two. Enjoy the bike and be safe! Make sure those helmets are on your heads!! :shade:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
