Is anyone else having robotic surgery? I will be having it on September 10. I am hoping that I will have a speedy recovery. I know that some benifits are faster recovery and the robots can get into smaller spaces. Just curious if there are many others having this kinds of surgery.

I had my Revision RNY on 8/20 with the davinci robot. But again it was a revision. I did find less pain than my original RNY that was done laprascopically and the incisions five of them are thinner than the first ones. I was discharged four days later and on the fifth was shopping. So far so good some pain on the left where my drain was and most of the surgery is done.

I hope I have a positive experience. I'll let you know how it goes. I guess the robotic surgery is not as popular still or maybe not so many doctors have experience with them.

My surgeon is the same one that did my initial surgery and his team works for one of the hospitals here in Miami that is a Center of Excellence in Bariatric surgery so the entire team uses it now. You will definetly have a positive experience! Did they put you an a liquid diet?

I am having mine done in Pittsburgh. I will start the liquid diet on Monday. I'm not thrilled but I will do what ever my Dr. says 100%. Thanks for the reassurance :)

Yes I had to do one two weeks prior and it was difficult to say the least, but worth it! I had a lady in the room next to me that when they went in she had food in her stomach and they ended up opening her, and then she had a serious wound infection afterwards, totally not worth it! Good luck and you will do great, the best thing to do is always follow your Dr's advice!

I'll be going in sept 10. I'm so excited. I feel super comfortable with my Dr. He has been great and I think that robotic surgery will be a good experience. I've had c sections and my gallbladder out recovery wasn't the easiest. I'm thinking good things about the robotic surgery. Of course it's a totally different surgery but I think it will be better.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
