Cycle Changes & Pcos?

Recommended Posts

I stopped having regular menstrual cycles at around the age of 15. Since then I would get my period maybe 3-4 times a year and it would last about a day or so. Over time it slowed down more and more up until I would last years without a period. (I had an IUD put in last year and before that my last period was almost 2 years past)

After surgery (now 6 weeks post op) I've been spotting on and off. I wonder if it's because of the hormones and changes in the way my body now balances things or is it just due to the weight loss??

:)

I know the surgery through me off. I didn't have PCOS but was regular prior to. I was due the day after my surgery on 7/11 and haven't had it or any signs of my cycle yet. At my age, no more kids for me but, wouldn't mind if the cycle stayed away LOL.

I was on BCP and the day after my surgery my cycles started and pretty much refused to go away. Finally got NuvaRing and it's getting back to normal.

I started my cycle (early) right after surgery- Dr said it because they give me anti blood clot shots and it thinned my blood, or something like that. I had it for 12 days!

I always had heavy bleeding but this month it's out of control. I better make that call to have the nuvasure done. Maybe this period night mare will disappear ir get lighter. I'll take either of them.

I got my period the day of my surgery late at night. Was also told it was due to the anticoagulant shots. I have Pecos and was always irregular. I have the mirena IUD and have not had a period in a long time. But now 28 days after my surgery and starting my last period, I get my period again! Ugh!

I got the mirena 6 weeks before surgery, and I still have my period. I can't wait for it to disappear! :)

Oh wow! That's a long time. I've had mine in for 2 years and only use to have occasional spotting once in a blue moon up until my surgery. You should call your doctor who inserted the mirena to see if they can give you something to stop your period. I don't think it's normal to last that long. Good luck!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
