hi I'm new here only 3 days po and i feel like crap!

any advise?

Hi springerboy. Welcome! I am pretty new on here as well. I am also 3 days post OP and i too feel like crap! When I'm awake and can walk around, it's for a short period of time and then I'm ready to take some vicodin and pass out again. Any suggestions would help me as well.

It will get better you just need time to heal

Take your Med's when needed get rest when you can and remember to walk and sip.

In a few days you will feel lots better.

Congrats on your surgery.

You are both doing exactly what you should be doing..nothing!! As long as you drink and get up and walk around for a bit every hour or so, your doing good! To be honest I felt like crap (exhausted) for up to 8 weeks!! I had all I could do to get out of my own way!! It will get better trust me! For now remember, your body has and is going through some major changes!!!

I'm 5 days out. I am having a hard time with Water. Anyone else have that? I actually like the taste of Water but it hurts when I swallow it even in small sips. I can drink sf lemonade and Vitamin water zero but not plain water. Anyone else have that and did it get better?

I'm about two weeks out and I thought something was wrong because I love water but I would keep getting a pain in the center of my chest when I would drink it. So I see it's not just me. So for fear of becoming dehydrated I started eating shaved ice yesterday along with my crystal light drinks. Never did I imagine it being so hard to get down one 16 oz drink! Oh something else that helped in that first week was letting my water get to room temp.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
