Wednesday was my surgery and I am still in pain. I know it's only Friday but it's hard to get any sleep. It's like I have flu symptoms, headache and body aches. Ugh it's hard to drink Water bc I can feel it going down and it's uncomfortable. Also I can eat Jello or Popsicles well bc I can feel it. I try though. Bc I don't wanna be dehydrated. Does anyone have suggestions??!! Did u feel this way?? I'm trying to sleep a lot but when I wake up I Still feel crappy. I know it'll take time but I don't like feeling like I cant do anything.. help

It takes time but if you don't try try try to drink & Popsicle if not you will end up in the emergency room. You need to push your self to walk & try to feel better.

Sending you well wishes.

Take your pain Meds as directed. Don't wait for pain to come in. I got a sleep aid from my dr after week 1 cause I had massive gas pain. Get up and move, even if you just walk around the house. Week 1 is the toughest. I am 3 months out and things are great !!! Keep going, you will do great !!

I agree, take your pain meds as directed. It also sounds like you may be suffering from dehydration. The body aches are one of the symptoms. My advice is call your surgeons office ASAP. Dehydration is serious and you need to get some fluids in your body right away.

Have you tried drinking something warm? Like herbal tea or broth? Stay away from caffeine.

Hope you feel better!

My surgery was Wednesday as well - since then, I've make sure to get up and walk around for 10-15 minutes every couple of hours, now that I'm home even going in circles around the house. I'm also finding that ice chips are working really well at getting my Water in - I'm just keeping a cupful with me and constantly sucking on them.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
