bigsexy 0 Posted May 9, 2007
Weight lifting can be both aerobic and anaerobic. Back when I was a football player in college, we had trainers who would tailor our workouts to build lean muscle mass and maintain a heart rate that would promote weightloss and fittness. They were essentially circuit training exercises. Lifting weights, stretching etc. The weights we did were light and done in bursts. As many reps as possible in a 40 second time frame using good technique and form, with 20 seconds rest between sets. 2 sets per station before moving to the next. We would do this everyday and took about 1 hour doing 2 laps around the 15 stations. Not only does your heart rate stay elevated the entire time because you are quickly moving from station to station, but you are gaining lean muscle mass. The kind that best burns fat. Good luck. I have just started to get back into training again - so hopefully that will help me shed the weight faster.
SPOILED ROTTEN 0 Posted May 22, 2007 My doctor said that lifting weights will help in burning fat---I do cardio and weight training every day i exercise (3-4 days a week). I do the eliptical machine for cardio and weights for legs and arms. My core I end up doing floor exercises or w/ the ball. keep up the good work to everyone. gloriouslady 0 Posted October 12, 2007 I used to exercise but saw such slow results.. I know stength training works, but do I have to drag myself to the gym before my surgery on the 8th of Nov? I'd rather spend my time watching my food intake and sipping my pre-op diet (2 Protein Drinks and 1 small meal). Did anyone use Medifast drinks for thier pre-op diet? Jachut 487 Posted October 12, 2007 Truly, I'd focus on lots of cardio between now and then, there's not a lot of point getting into a strength training program only to have to lay off it for six or eight weeks. But get out there and walk daily! It will improve your outlook, increase your weightloss and have you in better shape on the day - which means better recovery! aprilinmichigan 0 Posted October 13, 2007 You don't want to body build so do less weights and do more reps or you will gain because you're gaining muscles. And always rest you muscles and do your protien please.
TheWatcher 1 Posted November 29, 2007 So now it becomes real for me... one more test then i get my surgery date. I am almost worried ... something that i never thought i would feel at this point. not that the surgery wont happen or wont go well... but that my body won't recover as well as my health will... anyone have any idea how the skin reacts in men... personal stories... im 24 now and i have been fat all my life... Almost. So now that im going to change that will i have to be constantly reminded of how i used to treat my body?
