Mountain Walks

Recommended Posts

So I live near a mountain that people often walk it has some flat trails, steep trails, and some up and down ones too. Saturday I walked up an up/down and thought I was going to die. At one point tears were rolling I was going to give up but my car was too far to just stop... I had to keep going to get back to my car.

Took a day off and went back today and did the steep side... I thought I was going to die! But i took my mom and lil sis for support... I had to stop several times I said I can't over a hundred times, cursed, and keep going. I DID IT AGAIN! It's hard trucking this body up, and I wanted to stop but I did it. I can't believe it.

Just had to shout from the mountain top (RNY talk) my excitement! Wednesday I'm going back!

We have this some what famous gorge here called Watkins Glen if you are a NASCAR fan you have hard of it. They have this walking path that goes up to the top of the gorge and is all steps (800) in all some flat spots and then Jacobs ladder it's like 400 million steps or close to it right at the top my wife likes to try and kill me by making me walk up the last part. It's a wonderfully place to spend the day. And great exersice

I have been walking 1 mile 6 days a week so I will be used to it after surgery. One night I told my friend lets keep going. We ended up walking all the way to town and back, 6 miles. I wanted to quit a hundred times but kept going. I was sore and down for days after but I did it. Shows that I can push myself if I have to. Althhough that was a little too much at once and I paid for it, it also proves that I am ready for surgery and my new life style. Determination!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
