naterbug 7 Posted August 25, 2012 SMOKING!!!!! After 35 years I quit!!!! It was surprisingly easy. I used the nicorette lozenges and it was a breeze. I knew I had to quit before my bypass surgery in December, but, found out last week my thyroid must be removed so it was like DO IT!!! I went for my 5th surgeon appt on Thursday. One more and then we go for Approval. I had my gallbladder ultrasound done and like he said, we ain't gotta remove anything else. ha ha. Still gotta have my EGD but am gonna wait until I am off for my thyroid since I don't want to miss much more work outside of the surgeries. And, also, did I mention I QUIT SMOKING!!! I am so happy and proud of myself. 1 DarcyA66 reacted to this

PaulB 346 Posted August 26, 2012 Being a ex smoker (9 years) I would like to say it gets easier but I still get cravings for a smoke, only last a second then I'm fine. If you can quite then weight loss should be a walk in the park Surgery Anniversary 7/30/
naterbug 7 Posted August 26, 2012 thanks everyone! I love this place! I woke up yesterday morning and didn't have that instant thought of "wheres my cigs?" It was a very weird feeling. But I loved it. I finally decided to take control. Having the bypass surgery looming in the distance didn't deter me but when this other surgery reared it's head...I knew I had to do something, I get the I guess "habit" feelings...not really a craving but my brain at times just pops a picture of a cig in my mind. Usually when I am driving....so weird. I just kind of go hmmmmmm NO! and it passes!
kisersassy 369 Posted August 26, 2012 Congrats!!!! We can be quitting buddies. Tomorrow makes 4 weeks since I quit. I am using the electronic cigs to help me. My doctor said it is perfectly fine for me to do. I smoked for 26 years. My husband quit with me so that helped. But I do like being around people smoking just to get the smell lol

I loved it but knew it was time to do something. I was afraid if I didn't it would hurt my chances on having surgery. GO US! lol

I can't believe I used to smell line that all the time and never noticed.

So you can say I became bitchy when it comes to people blowing smoke in my face.
