I did about 2 weeks after surgery. I bought one that you add juice & you shake it. They have it in the freezer of the supermarket.

I did had my first one 1.5 weeks out. If you normally have them add sugar then just tell them to add substitute sugar (stevia is pretty darn good)

:)

I would stick to making them at home. That way you know exactly what's in it. I have tons of "recipes" in my head for smoothies if you tell me what your favorite flavor combinations are...

We LOVE making our own smoothies. Here's a bunch of ingredients you can mix and match for your own smoothies. When I feel like we are coming down with a cold a superfood antioxidant filled smoothie is our first remedy! Making your own is the healthiest way to go!

Nonfat plain greek yogurt

Unsweetened Almond milk

silken tofu

blueberries, peaches, or strawberries (we use frozen)

spinach

almond butter

Protein powder - vanilla, strawberry, or fuzzy navel would be good.

stevia, nectresse, or splenda

If you really want to get them somewhere else, try checking their website or store for nutritional information. I suspect they are loaded with sugar.

Has anyone tried a smoothie after surgery? I want to go to planet smoothie but I'm afraid.

I went to smoothie king. You can get it "skinny" which means no sugar, but I could not drink a lot. It was a little think.

I was told to keep away from raspberries & blackberries for a while. The seeds (and there are MANY) can irritate your pouch or even get stuck in one of the tiny pockets created by the staples...

Stevia is a South American herb used as a natural sweetener for centuries. The leaves of the Stevia rebaudiana plant have a refreshing taste, zero glycemic index, zero calories and zero carbs. It is 25-30 times sweeter than sugar, and far more healthy!

Lol yeah. They sell it in a box and in little packets.

You add it to anything that you would normally add regular sugar in and it tastes just like the real thing.

Today I did frozen pineapple, half a banana, spinach, ice, Water, and scoop of vanilla protein... This was my fav pre op. Post op with Protein wasn't bad- just not the same. & you don't taste the spinach! You can also substitute blueberries for bananas.

I just made way to much I need to learn how to make an 8 oz not whole blender! Lol

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
