Recommended Posts

Ok I googled the topic and found this awesome link to a comparison chart it is so comprehensive with the authors opinion on taste ' date=' cost analysis broken down to cost per day not per pill/tab because some have you take 1 or 2 or even 3 here it is

http://www.pamtremble.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/multivitamin_comparison_FULL1.pdf

Darn wish it would highlight as a link darn iPad[/quote']

So, this is very informative. I do not see the one you use recommended. Would you change your recommendation or stick with what you have?

I take a Gummy multi and vit D from Walmart and was getting B12 injections but my nutritionist freaked when my blood levels came back, the B12 was way too high so now I just take the sublingual. I also take Iron (for menstruating Women it's a must), Calcium, sometimes when I remember I add vit E, Biotin, and vit C..oh and a probiotic.

I actually am pre op and bought the opurity by powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury I gave its stats toward the beginning of the thread. Seems comprehensive will be discussing it with my dr tomorrow. The taste wasn't tooooooo bad may need to test a few to find the one I like not that I won't be using all the others cause of the cost.

Caltrate is Calcium carbonate. I was told the best calcium for us is calcium citrate. Calcium carbonate is the same thing in tums. It's not easily absorbed by RNY patients.

Citrical is the most popular brand of calcium citrate but so far I haven't found it in chewable form. For now I'm taking the Bariatric Advantage calcuum citrate chewable lozenges. It's like chewing a big chunk of chalk. Blech!!!!

The Dr, dietician and pharmacist know and said those were great to take. Maybe each Dr is different on their preference.

Why do you take prenatal pills?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
