jeanetteramirez2 45 Posted August 23, 2012 Hey.. Before surgery I went at least 2 times a day but now I'm lucky if I go twice a week and I have to take laxatives or I won't go at all. This sucks, I hate it.. Any advice or tips?

jldeville 61 Posted August 23, 2012 I have the same issue. I am 7 weeks post op. I have to take stool softners and Miralax daily. I'm hoping it gets better.
BBdoodle 483 Posted August 23, 2012 I'm 4 1/2 months post op. You are eating way less food now, so you are not pooping so much. The first week post-op I did not poop then it was back to regular poop schedule i would talk to your doctor about this or eat some prunes or drink prune juice
PaulB 346 Posted August 23, 2012 I hate not being able to poop I'm 3 1/2 weeks post op and poop every other day and not much then. Doctor says its normal if it goes on longer then 3 days he would recommend a laxitve. Surgery Anniversary 7/30/
sbstylun 57 Posted August 23, 2012 I was in the same situation I wouldn't go for a week and a half at a time, but the thing that works fore me is I eat an apple before I go to bed every other day and it makes me go. I guess it's the Fiber in the skin and apple but it works at least for me it does. Sent from my SAMSUNG-NOTE using RNYTalk

jeanetteramirez2 45 Posted August 23, 2012 I have the same issue. I am 7 weeks post op. I have to take stool softners and miralax daily. I'm hoping it gets better. That's what my dr told me to do.. Does Miralax have a taste?
PaulB 346 Posted August 23, 2012 Why can't you have applesauce no sugar added or sugar free. I'm 3 1/2 weeks post op and doctor says that's fine. But that may not be what your doc want so do what your doc says. Haven't tried any Med's yet hoping apples will work Good luck Surgery Anniversary 7/30/
DLCoggin 1,788 Posted August 23, 2012 Milk of Magnesia helped me a lot but be sure to buy the flavored one - accidently bought the unflavored one - BIG mistake! LOL! Colase is also a very good stool softener. And the good news is that you'll get to your "new" normal pretty quickly.
jeanetteramirez2 45 Posted August 23, 2012 Omg DL.. I accidentally bought the original flavor b/c it said sugar free and I swear it taste like I'm drinking chalk.. Soo gross
DLCoggin 1,788 Posted August 23, 2012 Nasty stuff huh? LOL But the flavored isn't too bad and MoM works - at least it did for me.
