Not Feeling Well Should I Be Concerned?

Recommended Posts

I have been getting in my liquids, Protein and Vitamins. I have been eating but I really don't feel like eating at all. Getting in about 800 calories per day. I feel tired, weak, headaches and body aches. I am used to walking 2 miles a day and strength training 3 times a week. I have not felt up to it since Sunday. Any thoughts on what this could be or any ideas how to get back at it for me. I am just over 4 months out.

Hello Christi.....Have you tried asking your nutritionist? Maybe getting back to walking will help with energy. I know I feel better when I do my walking. I feel more sluggish when I don't.

I'm only 6 weeks out but, I've notice in the mornings I'm more light headed than later on. I figure the hydration during the night plays a part. Is there a time of day where you're feeling it more etc?

Best to call your nutritionist or surgeon just to make sure everything is good etc.

Hope you feel better soon!

Hi Christi, I am a little over 4 monts pre op (April 9th) and I go thru spells of feeling sluggish etc as well. I get in all my Protein, vitimans, fluids on a daily basis as well. My dr. runs very extensive blood work at 3 months, 6 months and a year post op. My 3 month blood work was perfect. I had to have my gallbladder removed 10 wks after my RNY which put me a few steps back. As someone said in a earlier post, you get energized when you walk/exercise = get those endorfins going -lol. If it continues I would contact your doctor, maybe you need to up your B vitimans or something. At times I don't feel like working out either but I push myself and once I get started I always say "boy I'm glad I got motiviated because I feel good and have energy".

You are not butting in . . . One morning I had this awful pain under my boobs, right across my chest. It was a dull pain. It lasted for about a hour and a half. It went away then came back for like 10 minutes later that night. It felt like a heart attack but I knew it wasn't because I had no other signs. I called my dr. and they said sounds like gall bladder - you need to get a ultrasound and sure enough - I had lots of stones !!! My RNY dr. did my gallbladder as well. I had the stones way before my RNY surgery. My dr. also put me on meds to prevent stones after RNY but since Ihad them already I stopped taking the meds.

Went ahead and did my walk tonight even though I did not feel like doing it at all. I feel so much better. I'm exhausted but at least I got it in. Hopefully I will start feeling better.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
