I thought of this after the fact but maybe one day out of the week pick to eat smaller portions taking smaller bites, chewing and the. Waiting 60 sec for the next bite. Drink your 64 oz of Water, have healthly Snacks.

Just pretend that you have already had it. It may help to start the new routine

Walk as much as possible! And start your Vitamins. It makes your recovery so much easier if you are as healthy as possible going into surgery.

I have Kaiser and they have one of the longest lists of Vitamins. I have to take 2 Multi vit, calcium citrate + D, B-12, B-1, Iron + C. We were just told to take what's on your surgeon's list in the months leading to surgery.

The shakes are hard but I tried a recipe today was pretty good. I bought a big container if the vanilla cream whey Protein. One scoop has 35 grams of protein and you can use 2 scoops for 60 grams. Then 8 ounces of 1% milk gives you another 8 grams of protein. Slice a banana and add about 1 tbsp of sugar free strawberry Jello mix and blend. You can add ice if you want to blend it too.

My hardest obstacle is drinking 64 ounces of Water. Does it all have to be water? Or just 64 ounces of liquid? Like can I count my Decaf coffee as part of that 64?

I was told any liquid under 10 calories with no caffeine or carbonation

2scoops would be 70grams plus the milk and sounds delicious

That would help tremendously. The only thing I do drink and has always been is Water and coffee. Maybe and I really mean maybe once every month or two I might have lemonade or a soda or tea when we go out to eat. And that is only like once a month

Still 68 in one sitting is a great drink. Once you can eat tuna and cottage cheese and eggs it all adds up pretty fast

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
