Is Anybody Home In Md

Recommended Posts

Hi Debby, welcome to the Maryland bandsters' thread. Hopefully, by word of mouth or otherwise, we can get some more people in here. I live in Salisbury on the Eastern Shore. Good to have you here.

Hi Marylanders!

I live on the state line, but just over the line in De. We live just outside of OC, MD. However, no one seems to be showing up from De.

I was wondering if anyone in this group lives on the Eastern Shore? I bet not.....

If so, though, let me know, because that is where I am.

Is this Lee F. banded at DBC? It's Laura M! Glad to see you here!

Where in Maryland are the rest of you from? Where are you planning to meet? Do you mind if newbies join in?

Hey Marylanders...

I tried to get a Maryland string going before this website was updated. There were quite a few who responded. I could get there names and we could send them a message to join us.

I was banded by Dr. Sighn on 11/09/07.

I live near Catonsville, MD.

Hi Molly Brown,

That's so funny to say that name after all these years because I went to school in Delaware with a Molly Brown who was named for her mother who was one of my teachers.

Anyway, it would be great if some of your old friends found us here. What ever we can do to grow our group is great. I would love to get some activities going if we can, especially when it warms up.

I posted the link on the old message string and am hoping that some come over. I think it would be cool to have some outings with a healthful theme, a walk or bike ride or something like that.

My last name is not Brown. I just use it because when I was young, people always found some other name to call me, Molly Hatchet, Unsinkable Molly Brown...

I like the unsinkable Molly Brown because I will not let me dreams to be a healthy weight sink... Sounds corny, I know....

Hi fellow Marylanders!

I work in Baltimore and live in Westminster. I would love a get togther somewhere around the Baltimore area!

I was banded 12/6/07 by Dr. Von Rueden at GBMC. He is moving over to St. Agnes at the beginning of March. I hope I can move with him; he is checking on insurance coverages to see which patients can move with him. I've been working with him and his staff for over a year, so I'd like to stay with him. Right now, there a monthly support group meeting; I'd like to suppliment that with additional support meetings, so I'm interested in meeting others in the area who are banded.

Recently moved back to DC (live in DC - work in friendship heights) and would love to meet fellow bandsters -

I'm off on President's day and would be happy to help coordinate a lunch or dinner at a local restaurant.

Don't want to step on toes if other meetings are happening but want to hook up

let me know if you are interested or if something is already planned. My old stomping grounds - utah - had a monthly dinner...

was a lot of fun.

I only got 3 responses to the meeting poll. :cursing: Is there anyone else in the Maryland group (or surrounding area) interested in meeting for dinner in Baltimore?

Secondly, my husband has to have some tests done on the 18th in Salisbury so I can not make it over there that day. However, I will be in Baltimore on the 19th & 21st for an upper GI and a fill (hopefully). Is anyone interested in meeting on the 19th or 21st?

Thanks,

Laura

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
