STOP don't take that smoke!! Hmmmm did that help?? Honestly is the cigarrete worth not being able to get the surgery and start your new healthy life? Keep reminding yourself why you are doing the surgery and use that to keep saying NO. You can do this!! Trust yourself and find something to do instead, perhaps call a friend, take a bath, exercise etc.... whatever works for you.

You can do this!!

Lol, well I can rule out eating, drinking or smoking, haha. I don't know! I'm looking forward to new clothes, and just watching my body melt. Thanks for getting me through an iffy couple of hours. I don't want to let down my family that are so very happy I quit!

Hmmm.. I think dancing is a good option...sex not a bad option either.. shopping is always a good option too... going on a trip to a special place another option.... OK dang maybe I should choose a way to Celebrate your goals... cause it sounds fun!! LOL

I just quit recently on July 7th in preparation for my surgery some time around December. It was incredibly hard the first few weeks, but I've found that all physical cravings are now gone, so it does get better! Any time I feel like I want a cigarette, I think about how badly I want the surgery, and that helps to stop the craving. At times I know I want a cigarette, but I want the surgery so, so, SO much more...so it's just not worth it.

Think about how much you would regret it if you did have one! Think about how far you've come! Be proud of yourself in your accomlishments and anytime a craving comes, just say to yourself "this too shall pass"...and it certainly will :)

if you have a smartphone, there is the livestrong app which i used to quit smoking. it has a button to push when you have a craving and it gives you a motivational quote, fact, or picture. you can also track your cravings, costs, days smoke free, etc. it gives you nice little award badges for making milestones. another which i use more is called 'my last cigarette' it tracks your health improvement, how many cigs you haven't smoked, days smoke free, and my favorite...how much money you have saved, and more! also has a daily pic for when you are having cravings. it's hard but so worth it. you can do it!!

I used the 'my last cigarette' app and electronic cigarettes to quit 4 months ago. It feels great and the cravings were tough but the e-cigarette is amazing!!! If the nicotine is getting to you I would suggest some Nicolette for the really bad days. No sense in suffering so much my friend, this isn't easy however you can do this!! I love smoking and quit anyways, lol

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
