As soon as I swallow anything Soup Water, Jello, anything I can feel it hit my stomach then my stomach hurts, it's almost like my stomach is contracting because the pain goes and comes and goes and comes, anyone else experience this?

I'm 4 days out and I can certainly feel the fullness and I get crampy, however I go ahead and do an ounce of liquids and then move around, take a little walk or what's worked great is a rocking chair or even a little drive. The moving around has made things move around inside and it seems to settle...

I get the same feeling for me it's a form of dumping try eating slower, eating and not drinking when eating, chewing better and smaller bits.all work for me.

Re learning to eat is hard I just want to dig in chew and swallow. Then find out the hard way that's not good and walking is a big help to just wish I had more energy to walk more.

Good luck hope it works out for you

I went thoug this with my doctor and that was what he told me to do and not to push it. After 2 weeks post op your still healing inside he said it would get better and it is slowly. Just not as fast as I want. But we must remember we have to re-learn to eat my doctor says It will take time ( or to put it better he is saying I do great work don't mess it up) I love my doctor he's funny

Go slow it should get better soon

I'm 5 days post op and I am having that same feeling. Hurts when the food hits my stomach and then it cramps really bad down the whole left side of my abdomen. Ive also got some diarrhea?? How that can be I don't know there hasnt been anything solid in my system for 2 weeks now. It is very painful but fortunately it only happens for short periods. I'm hoping this will improve over time. I can also feel the gas going down the left side and it is like WOW THAT HURTS!! Gas X is my new best friend!! I have been popin that stuff as often as i can. I'm no longer on any narcotics, just extra strength tylenol, but it covers the pain until that cramping starts then OUCH!!

I also have a HUGE bruise on the center of my abdomen where one of the larger instruments went into my gut. The bruise keeps getting larger and larger, it is about the size of a baseball right now. AND it is heavy. I kind of feel like I'm pregnant!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
