When you were getting prepped for surgery and you met the Dr. What type of questions did he/she ask you. All answers are appreciated. Also for the women, I'm assuming they did a PG test on you. TIA

All I can remember is they asked if I ever had anesthesia and if I'm allergic to anything. Then they gave me something to calm my nerves and asked me if I feel drunk yet. Which I didn't bc the nurse put my IV in wrong. So the anesthesiologist had to redo it. Which was scary bc I was laying on the operating table wide awake. But he was quick and soon I was waking up in recovery.

They unknowingly did my pregnancy test. I knew they had to do one but have no clue when they did it!

Anesthesia asks a number of questions though most meet with you before surgery day usually over the phone. They will Adk allergies, have you had anesthesia before etc. they will have you open your mouth to assess how anterior you are. This just helps em gage the intubation difficulty. They should ask of you have false teeth. Then

If you have any no's like no blood they will go over everything an have you sign the forms. They will ask of you want something for nerves if your going to be a bit. I got 2mg of versed. I give it to pts all the time but now I know why it snows em lol. You will head into surgery an be moved to the table it's cold, hard and weird. Thy will put a belt on you and pin your arm out on a slide that ensures the IV access. They will place a mask over your face and ask you to take deeeep breaths this. Is VERY IMPORTANT. Just take nice deep breaths. You may feel a little burn in your IV depending on how much versed you get. That burn is the propofol aka milk of Michael. You will go blurry and wake up an hour or two later. Deep breaths in the pacu! It helps blow off th anesthesia.

Hope that helps :)

Mine was similar! He came in asked some questions... One being loose teeth. Said he would give me something to relax and that I should say my good bye to hubby ... I remember kissing hubby the nurse telling she would be the entire time and them moving the bed I was OUT next I woke up in recovery being told to take deep breaths but it felt like there was someone sitting on my chest.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
