Similar Situation Opinions Wanted

I has surgery 6/7. Fairly normal post op course. Pain issues that resolved. Last Tues night at 9 pm ish I became very nauseous. That was 9 weeks 5 days post op. usually means I'm hungry. I ate. The nausea got increasingly worse. I vomited around 1 am. I called the surgeon 1st thing in the am. He immediately thought stricture. Did EGD Thurs. No stricture. Upper GI tract perfect. He says it may be gall bladder but very early for that and very atypical presentation. Gave me phenergan and said if it continues until Sept appt he'll work up my gall bladder. I have no pain. Constant overwhelming nausea. The meds make it bearable but they make me tired so can't take them at work. Can't eat any solids. They come back up. Can keep down liquids. Passing gas and having normal bowel movements so not a bowel obstruction. Any opinions, suggestions, thoughts?

Nothing new as far as meds or foods. When I eat too fast or not chew enough I get epigastric pain with the nausea. I don't have that with this nausea.

Sounds like structure too. The other thing i would try to rule out would be a SBO. Are you having good bowel movements?

When I get nausea the first thing I try is a Prilosec which does often help. If not I go back to Clear Liquids for the rest of the day. Good luck and keep us posted! Was just wondering how you have been!

He followed my GI tract down through the pouch and out the stoma. He said everything looks beautiful and "boy some surgeon did an amazing job!" Yup, regular as clock work. Don't get it. I was doing great until Tues/Wed. And Jenna I tried to pm you back again on myfitnesspal. 4 times I typed the message. 4 times I hit post and it deleted it. I gave up;)

I am having the same troubles. I went to the doc yesterday and my surgery date was June 12th, 2012. I was told to return to a clear liquid diet x2 weeks. If I am unable to eat I am getting yet another EDG & a feeding tube.

I still have the nausea. I haven't eaten any solids in 2 weeks. No stricture. My EGD was clear. I had my 3 month labs drawn. Somehow they are all mid range normal. Lol!! How is that even possible? I can't eat or take Vitamins. We did a gall bladders u/s on Friday. It's unchanged from preop. Dr said if u/s didn't show anything then we'd do a HIDA scAn so I assume Monday he'll write the order for that. All I want to do is not be nauseous and eat a little something.

I went through this about a month ago. My surgery was June 5. My doc said it can be very normal. He gave me nausea meds - phenergan, reglan and zofran. Then he also gave me a scapolimean patch. It helps people going on cruises with motion sickness. He said the patch will get rid of excess saliva. I asked him what was going on and he said that when people start losing weight their body releases toxins and those toxins can make you feel like you feel right now.

It took me about a month to eat with taking the medication. It was a tough month, but I just ate what I could tolerate.

What I wouldn't give if it were a non surgical problem:) I really don't want more surgery or Copays or time off work....... I'll ask my doc on Monday what he thinks about that. I'll make a recommendation for the scopolamine patch. However, my surgeon and all the other surgeons that see pts on the hospital unit I work on all lean towards gall bladder. But if meds will do the trick I'm all for it as long as its not permanently taking meds. Part of the reason I did this was to stop having all kinds of meds to take. Not to exchange one set for another.

I was vomiting non stop for a week. I called my surgeon they schedule endoscopy. Ny stomach closed so tight. They open it up a little. I'm normal now. Keep calling & getting checked. Something must be wrong.

I'm going to my 3 months follow up after I take my bloodwork this week. I'm having a header time with liquids than solids. Is that strange?

Kiwi...I'm having the same issue. I can eat foods but get nauseous from liquids. I know we're not supposed to drink after food but it's the only way I get fluids. They gave me zofran but it's not helping.

Thats interesting. Is it all liquids or just thick or thin? In the beginning I could tolerate thick but now the thinner the better.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
