I Had RNY 18 months ago and have lost 90 pounds. I have been battling for months with my weight. I was wondering if anyone here had gastric bypass and then later...after not being as successful as you hoped, had the lapband?

Any input is great. Thanks and great site!

Hey peeks~!!

I am sorry to hear that you are struggling!

I am new to this board, but I know I have heard of folks being banded after RNY......go to www.spotlighthealth.com and go to the lap band board there, I know there are a couple of folks there that were banded after previous wls.

Best of luck to you!!:)

Hi Peeks and Dawn,

I have no idea about this, but does anyone know how that would work? I would think the stomach would be too small to have a pouch around it.

hmmmmmmmmmmm.........

I've had a RNY and been banded. I lost some weight with the RNY and then began to gain it back. My surgeon suggested the band as a way to avoid more weight gain and to increase my previous loss. So far, so good. I am two months since my banding and I feel OK and I've lost a good deal of weight. I wouldn't recommend this for everyone, but if the RNY doesn't work and you have the option, it's worth consideration.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
