Surgery Done On 8/15

Recommended Posts

I feel so alone right now. I just got home yesterday, and my husband went into suegery this morning. we have a one year old that has been with my mom since I went in. so here I am at home with no husband, nor son. I don't think I have ever felt so helpless and sad like this. I can't be with my husband cuz I'm still in some pain, and I can't take care of my own son because he doesn't understand not to touch in mommy's tummy. grandma lives about 30 minutes away she feels more comfortable being at her house sitting here with me. I feel like I have no choice because she is helping me with him. yesterday when she left I didn't want to let go of my baby cried and cried and cried. I know I have to recover but I didn't want to recover by myself.

Aww! So sorry that you are by yourself--at least physically. We're all here for you on RNY Talk. I know it's not the same, though. Wishing you and your husband speedy recoveries in order to be back with your little one soon.

This is the best time for you relax and get your healing on. As a mother of a 2 yr old I was sad but grateful I had my parents to take her for some time and my hubby worked. I was so lonely but I got to do things at my pace.

Wishing you a fast recovery and all the comfort in the world. Congrats to you and the hubby!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
