Building your Cardio and more

Recommended Posts

:faint: Just 6 years ago I wasn't good at cardio. I learned to increase my cardio y starting at 15 to 20 minutes on the treadmill. With me I have used a radio and a CD player to keep the boredom from attacking. Place in our favorite music--hopefully it's fast or a good pace. Even though I am 49, I prefer hip hop and some fast R & B music. Keeps me siinging and happy.

The deal is to have me get used to the 15 to 20 minutes per day as a beginner. Of course this will be done at your 60 to 80% levels for your heart and pulse rate. I am not a doctor, so all of us will have to check with our Doctors before this program. I am not into arobics--just walking. Eventually I will move up 30, then 40 and one day hopefully within 60 days--I am at the 50 to 60 minute mark without stopping. Prior to the Katrina storm I was there. I stopped when there was no gym. Moved and had to deal with a depression-and a anti-depression medicine. I can't begin to tell you how I felt the first six months-great. Zoloft took a terrible turn on me. I had more symptoms than before I started. I could not sleep and had at least 10 more symptoms or what is called--side effects. Well, I had no gotten a weigh in and the scale looked crazy as I saw--260--from my 228 only 12 months prior. So after gaining 10 more--I stopped the medicine. Consulted my primary Dr. Found out, my kidneys were doing about a 70% Job. I was hurtig near my liver--I had developed that "fatty liver". Oh--I got on to the natural herbs and as I see it now..none of the symptoms are there. Plus my kidneys are back to 100%. Even my Dr asked--what did you take??? Water, Lemon and some herbs suggested by my little Herbal book...Now since it's been right 150 days--but my weight has been between 262 and 270--I am doing the lap band. The approval is in--but the list is long here. I am looking at March now--without a doubt. It's going to take 1 month to see Dr Weaver--then I am told--within 2 weeks--I'd get Banded.....thank God...Back to the treadmill and the weights for sure....

I remember my first time on the elliptical lasted for 2 minutes before my Heart Rate shot up. It took a while to build up to 30-35 minutes at a go.

You will get back to feeling good again - and the surgery will help.

Keep your chin up. March will be along before you know it.

Hugs!

Thank you very much on the motivation. I was told that Feb 16th was not a good time. So I am going to be patient. Maybe it'll be best to wait til March. I fee there is a reason for everything. It's going to take me at least 2 months to achieve the 60 minutes a day. My goal is to have 4 days of 60 minutes. I am buying my some liquid amino acid and liquid vitamins this friday. I am hoping to find some chewable Vitamin B complex. For some reason--vitamin B complex gives me rapid energy....Friday will be my day to get going....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
