Thanks guys, Mookie, your Doc happens to be my aunt so I don't want to go to her hee hee. She's a wonderful doctor though but I'm not telling my extended family about mu surgery. Your right that he's on a power trip, big time. BTW, did any of you have to pay for this to be done? He's charging me for it, I don't know how much yet. I think I need to find a new doc ASAP.

Shut up...Mumsy is your Aunt? I always tell her I wished she was my Mom. Does this mean you went to Shep too? Holy accomplished family or what? Huh..small world. I won't mention that I know you to her...promise.

Yep, had to pay for the paperwork too. I think it was 60$..her nurse/receptionist is a real hag though and would never let me get away with that.

Hey Becca my Dr. didn't charge me for the forms and she also took my blood so I would not have to go to the Lab. Phew saved me a trip there. Anyway she was great but I have to admit I thought that I was going to get charged because I noticed that she has charges for people that come in for physicals for their work, sports teams, etc. I guess her thought is that surgery (no matter if is cosmetic or not) is still surgery so why charge.

Anyway your Dr. sounds like he/she needs an attitude adjustment. :D

Sorry I've disappeared for a bit, trying to settle into our new house, wow, it's alot of work moving. So I went back to the doc first thing that next morning to get my bp re-measured, and guess what, it was fine. But the asshole that he is is still making me go to a specialist before he signs the forms!!! God I wish I had another doc. I will definately start looking for a new one once this settles down. But those of you from Alberta know what looking for a decent doc is like. Anyhoo, the disgustin opti-fast has started and because I don't have my fridge here yet I haven't been able to blend with ice and it is absolutely disgusting!

Those of us from Canada know what it's like to find a decent doc! I'd settle for having one, period. No, actually I wouldn't. I'd rather have a new doctor every time I go to a clinic than a horrible one EVERY time!

But welcome back, congrats on the new place :P

Hold on Becca and think of the rewards - and the look on the Docs face when you're a winner at LOSING (yep Weight wise if you get my drift)

Enjoy the little triumphs and hope you get your fridge soon so you can add some crushed ice.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
