Ugh! Now this isn't a sign of giving up, it's a sigh of how much slower life has become. I'm nowhere near focused on numbers lost but more focused on easing the gas and getting in Water. I haven't eatin' anything yet, will start Protein Shakes again today but yesterday it was a knife in my stomach.

Taking GasX and t3's for pain. Walking 20 mins each day....Also laid in my stomach at once point, ouch!! Up early and still tired...any suggestions how I can proceed with the most comfort?

I was in the hospital for 2 1/2 days, when the released me I thought I would never make it out the front door. I was weak but I made it home and each day got better and better. I was back to work the following Monday. If you are in pain, please ask for something stronger, I was on morphine pump for 2 days.... boy did that help :)

She's right... it does get better day by day at home. I am a week post-op and it gets a little better every day. For so many of us this seems to slow down our busy lifestyles and makes us feel like things have come to a screeching halt. Really, it will get better with each day. Just rest, walk, sip, and rest some more. At a week post-op, I feel good but still tire easily and need to rest occasionally. Hang in there! And don't be surprised at your weight being UP when you get home. I was up 7# when I got home (as I've also heard others say) due to all the IV fluids. But it only takes a couple of days to go away and then you're losing again! Woohoo!

I'm with the others...8 days post op and I wake up with tons of energy then by 1pm need to rest or nap. Even though I wasn't very active pre surgery, I still didn't sit still. It's difficult making myself just sit and chill but we definitely need it. I was also up 6 lbs the day I came home but it disappears quickly. Little things get easier every day...hang in there!

I am 8days post-op and still struggling to get enough fluids and Protein, while the severe pain has eased up I am still VERY sore and move very slowly. I take a nap EVERYDAY around one and try to focus on Water and walking every other hour (10 mins walking x4/day) it has made HUGE improvements on gas release and I get thirsty which encourages water intake :)

I am 9 years post op and at some point you'll go through with what they call the buyers remorse, this is where you really need your support system because you DO get past it and whe you do it's happy days ahead! Hang in there everyone it's worth it. Surgery Jan 2003 SW 310 CW 136 <3

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
