Opps. Lost Track Of Time

Recommended Posts

Saw the surgeon today and I guess I lost track of time. Here I was thinking I'm 2 months post op. but I'm only 6 weeks. Lol. I know I know. Technicality.

Anyway, I am down 24lbs and he asked me if I felt full. I told him now. He told me I needed to start eating more solid foods. Like chicken breast. ( not the mushy chicken salad I make). And steak. Etc. I have been a little scared to try it.

Wow you are doing great for six wks. Congrats! I go in next Monday, just want it over with. This full liquid diet is killing me, lol! Did you have to do one?

No I didn't have to do a pre-op diet but it was strongly suggested to have a Protein Shake as one mean replacement and not to gain any weight.

Great job!! Nothing to fear from the chicken breast and other solid foods. Chew very well and eat slowly. You may discover that you get full much faster, stay full longer, and consume considerably less in terms of volume than you would with soft foods. All good things and chicken is an over-the-top source of Protein. Congratulations!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
