I piled on weight during pregnancy and even after giving birth, my weight still seemed to increase. I had tried dieting and exercising but post natal depression really kicked in and chocolate and wine became my best friend. I had seen my GP who referred me on to dieticans and a phyciatrist.

Although they tried to help me, I still went on to the internet and searched for the Worlds Leading Bariatric Surgeon and the name Dr Bruno Dillemans under International Surgery Group came up.

I contacted International Surgery Group who I personally found to be very professional and informative and they helped me to get approved for surgery by Dr Bruno Dillemans. Within two weeks of contacting ISG, I met Dr Dillemans and had my Gastric Bypass proceedure.

The hospital was more like a hotel than anything else. Staff were lovely. ISG provided me with a step-by-step of what-to-do list from the moment I arrived at the hospital, (which is one of the largest hospitals in Belgium).

In total, I spent four days in Brugge. Day one was consultation day, Day two was Surgery day and then I spent two post-op days in the Park Hotel. A nurse came to visit me on both days after the hospital discharged me from Dr Dillemans team. On the morning of day five, I went back to St.Jans Hospital for a post-op check with Dr Dillemans before travelling home.

He is a proper charmer and if I was not already married ... well ... he has my number ;-)

I had an excellent experience and it did not cost me the earth either! To be honest, i shopped around and after a lot of pain staking research, ISG were by far the cheapest out there that were providing access to Dr Dillemans so I guess I got the best of both.

Hope this is helpful to all those who are considering surgery :-)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
