Mrs.D 39 Posted August 13, 2012 Your surgeon should Review all of that with you and provide you a list. Most people are on liquids for a while. Do u have a list? 1 lovealways reacted to this

Mrs.D 39 Posted August 13, 2012 I came home from hospital on full liquids ( some people came home on clear liquids), I had: soup- not chunky, sf fudgesicles and Popsicles, propel Water, soy milk, crystal light, and protien shakes....make sure to get your protien shakes- most important:) shortly thereafter I started eggs, cottage cheese and Greek yogurt. Good luck!

Good luck! Pretty much ditto for me. Surgeon requirements vary widely so it's a good idea to stick with the information they gave you or check with your doctor for any additions. Most importantly - as Mrs. D said - get ALL of your Protein. 1 Yolyann reacted to this
NewCarrie 4 Posted August 13, 2012 I'm glad someone said something about Protein. I'm on Clear Liquids with no protein and have been concerned about that. I get very tired very quickly and thought I should be taking in something with protein. Need to ask my dr about that one.

I get very tired very quickly and thought I should be taking in something with protein. Need to ask my dr about that one. My comment regarding getting all of your protein was in a post-op context. If you're on a clear liquid diet immediately preceeding your surgery, protein might not be nearly as important. That's an interesting question. My surgeon required that I lose 20-25 pounds pre-op. Period. No pre-op diet of any kind. She just said lose the 20-25 pounds or else - no surgery. If you are on a pre-op diet, I hope you'll share your doctor's response with us regarding protein. Doctors vary widely in their pre-op and post-op diet requirements. It will be interesting to hear what he/she has to say regarding pre-op protein.
NewCarrie 4 Posted August 14, 2012 Sorry for the confusion...im day 5 post-op. I know my body needs to adjust to new digestion but no Vitamins or Protein to me seems to hinder healing.
DLCoggin 1,788 Posted August 14, 2012 Vitamins can be hard on the pouch immediately following the surgery. I'm sure they'll add those in the not too distant future. I am surprised that they don't have you on any Protein. I was on protein immediately following the surgery when I was still in the hospital and every day after I came home. I would definitely run that by your doctor. Congratulations on your surgery!!
