The only med I take is Zoloft and I've been on it since 2008 for post partum depression and omg the liquid medicine is disgusting! Any advice on taking the liquid? Yuck. I'd rather not take it.

Hi ! I take Zoloft and Zyrtec and Prilosec. I took all of them from the day of surgery on. For the first 3 weeks they were crushed. Now I can actually swallow them with Water.

I am also on zoloft and have been for close to 3 years. Is the liquid zoloft really that bad? What'd you mix it with?

I was told I will need to take prilosec after surgery. How terrible is the crushed meds? Can I put the pill in a bite of Jello or something to slide it down?

My sister just had surgery and was instructed to crush all pills and put them in unsweetened applesauce. She said the taste was almost unbearable.

It's very bitter and nothing I drank took the taste out of my mouth so I nibbled on a saltine cracker.

I won't lie, it's bitter but I would put it in Jello, applesauce, pudding ... Whatever works !!!

but it needs to be crushed, right? to help me take pills when I was younger my mom would put the pill in a teaspoon of grape jelly (not the healthiest way to do things, lol)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
