Ready? Catch! Just threw a big hug your way. I think we've all had the WTFs. Everyone finds their personal way to cope. My mantra is no food is as important to me as living a long and fulfilling life with my kids. You will feel better in time. I will be 7 weeks post op on Thurs and I have lost 50 lbs. I feel better than ever! Went out to dinner to tonight and had a little bit of my husbands salad, 2 small meatballs, a couple of bites of roast chicken and a couple of bites of thin crust pizza. Felt satisfied and like I was part of the family again. You will get there!

You aren't alone in the wtf's...... But it will get better. And you need to focus on the positives. 24lbs is awesome! food is a hard thing to part with because you still need it to live. Unlike cigarettes.... Just have to keep food under control don't let it control you! Good luck! You can do this!

I think we all go through this period. I regretted my decision when I was hving a hard time keeping foods down. I was miserable and emotional. It was a real struggle to remember why I did this. It is hard to drive down the road and see all the places you used to eat, but now you can't. I hated hearing what I am about to say so please bare with me. It does get easier and the weigh comes off and you will remember why you did this. Keep your chin up! This is a temporary stop on this life changing event!

Thanks. I am feeling better and I am trying to see the positives. I am very thankful for this surgery. It's just hard to break up with a food addiction I've had for 20+ years. Trust me I want to over come this. But I guess I never knew exactly what I was getting myself into. Which is strange to say because I saw SO many videos and posts about RNY but I cannot recall anyone who shared how much this phase sucks.

Yep! I felt the same way. No one told me I would be in so much pain I would need help to wipe my ass!! The first 2 weeks was pure hell!! But, I think people are scared to make people aware of the truth so they won't change their minds because of the rewards.

Very true. I think that we are doing a disservice by not telling the whole truth tho because we gotta make a truly informed dicision.

Nobody can tell you what this surgery is going to be like for you. We all have to experience it for our selfs. My wife and I read everything we could about RNY did the YouTube thing talk to people that have went though it. After all that I was not ready for this and don't think you can be. The one big thing I did befor surgery was to join a Bariatric support group they meet every week. They have help me understand that I have a food addiction and are helping me to learn to control my addiction not let it control me anymore. We need food to live. We do not live to eat . Not every one will want to go to support group do what ever works for you this Fourm has help me out Alot and I know I'm not alone here . I must also give My wife a big hug for the support that she is giving me on this Journy. She is My Love My Life My Soul on top of that she has lost 11 Lbs on this Journy just helping me.

I get so frustrated when people tell me I took the easy way out. Obviously they know nothing about it. I believe this is harder in some ways than a diet.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
