I've seen several people post that you tolerate things very different after surgery. I thought about stocking up on some now but my luck, I would buy what would make me sick. I hear powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury is really good.

Thanks Jessica. I been hearing about that one a lot too. I heard some generic brands are good too. But i guess the perfectionist in me has to research everything to the ground. Hopefully the ones that i found dont make me sick.

Yeah! Our surgeries are on the same day. I go for my pre-op on August 29, but I have to start my liver shrinking diet August 27. Do you have to do a pre-op diet?

So I think we are a bit alike. I like to plan and plan and stock and plan lol so I bought my Optifast online and tried it out to jump start my low carb way of life. Their shakes ( I bought ready to use cartons an expensive way to go I think and it limits you use somewhat ) tasted just ok would not recommend them really. My psych counselor showed me a few and gave my powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury samples those u liked and I bought some from their website. A few containers with 17 scoops in each. I would use the search tool here and try to get recommendations from people then buy small amounts and try them out. Oh yeah I bought the unflavored Protein powder from Unjury also is u can add it to things to up the Protein without changing the flavor.

PS welcome to our group I am rachael

We guys I am home out of the hospital on a new med for my a fib. Hopefully I will not have an episode before my RNY sept 25. I work in prw surgical testing so I am doing my pre ops here where I work and I sent the surgeon my ekgs the good and the bad ones ( sinus rhythm and afib) and my chest X-ray report. Lots of appointments next week.

I will need an IVC filter placed 2-4 days before my RNY to prevent clots meet with that doc next Tuesday. Anyone else been told they need one?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
