Recommended Posts

Hi,

While chopping up raw cabbage i ate a piece and didn't chew properly. It is stuck and won't come up or go down. i tried hot Water and gagging with finger (sorry) and i still feel it there. It moved while gagging.

What do i do now? (i already prayed!!)

Anybody there to Heimlich you? That's all I can think of.

Some people have used carbonation to pop stuff. If you have any soda - you could try that.

Sorry!

Where is it stuck? Is it hurting you, or do you just feel pressure?

For sticks, people have claimed good luck with papya enzyme, carbonated drinks, pineapple juice, meat tenderizer, etc. None of it does squat for me.

If it's just sitting there, let it be, it may well pass on its own. If it's hurting you, chances are it won't hurt for too much longer before it comes up. If it doesn't come up, and it's hurting, you may need an unfill.

I had a peice of meat stuck for almost 2 days. It was uncomfortable, but not unbearable. Then all of the sudden, I had a bout of hiccups and it went down. Hang in there, but if its painfull, I would call your doctor.

i wound up calling my surgeon's office and talked to one of the nurses. She said to drink, drink, drink and eat pureed food in hopes it will slide down.

If not they want to see me tomorrow in the office for an unfill. am believing it will go down as i don't want an unfill and the office is 3 hours away AND.....i am snowed in, with more predicted!!!

Just feels like something is lodged there which it is. i even tried sniffing pepper to sneeze it out!!! LOL

I have found that when something gets stuck, If I take a really deep breath and hold it for as long as I can, it usually does the trick, sometimes it takes a few really deep breaths... might not work for cabbage but hey it is worth a try.

Thanks for letting us know that everything turned out for the better. Yes, I love raw veggies too. It's good to know that you can still eat 'em as long as you are careful. :P

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
