Hey,

I'm in the same boat as you. I was addicted to food and I have cried after my surgery (July 17th) because of the food I wanted and couldn't have. I even tried eating stuff I couldn't (fried chicken) And ended up getting sick.

With that being said. It does get easier. But I must admit, it gets worse before it gets better.

Walk, walk, walk. Keep hydrated and try to keep up with your Protein. That'll def help with the weight loss.

Good luck :D

Thanks ya I am just sketched bec I've been sticking to everything but I had two bites of a chicken finger today I chewed it until it was like apple sauce and it didn't even make me sick.. I don't want to start getting into the habit of eating bad stuff again so I think I just have I keep to my Protein Shakes and then when I can eat food again just sticking to veggies salads and meats I love grilled chicken and steak and stuff like that.. And for the excersize this is the first time in my whole life that I have been motivated so much to start the gym.. Gotta stay strong and believe in myself.

We are all addicted to food or we would not of had this surgery. I to want to eat and know that it's my brain telling me that and not the small pouch. All my reading and what the Doctors say is that it could take up to 18 months for you to retrain your brain and the signals your old pouch send to your brain. Be strong join a support group in your area. I have been to them before my surgery and just went to my first one last night after surgery.its kind of like this Fourm only face to face with people that are going though the same thing, and help you understand why you are addicted to food and what you can do about it.

Be strong (I can't see doing this again)

Thanks everyone for your feedback it really helps, another question I have is how do you know when your Hungary and after your surgery did you barley eat? I feel like I'm not eating enough.

I am now three years out... I was surprised at how little I ate right after surgery and still function!! And it saded me, because it made me realize just how much I had over eaten for YEARS!! Oh how I greaved for the amount of food I was able to eat before... At times I still miss that, however, I so would not go back to the weight I was just to eat that amount again!! Thankfully it is a marathon, and not a race, because I have had some regain and need to refocus myself.

You should eat every 2-3 hours so you won't really get hungry. It's a struggle and it will be. But you can move past it. Your new healthy life will motivate you.

I hear a lot of members talk about eating 6 times a day... I get conflicting information on that. My surgen said 3 meals no Snacks. But my nutritionist from his office said 6 small meals. Protien first 60 gm which I've never been able to do in the last 3 weeks. For days I can't keep any solids down. It's been four days and I get sick if I eat more then one bite of anything semi solid. So I have 3 yogurts a day that's all that I can handle and I'm not even at 300 calories a day. So tiered, last night I had a spoof of natural Peanut Butter for some kind of energy, I promptly got sick. I feel like if I did way 6 small things is be better off but who do I listen to? Confusing.

Good question........ I think I would go with the advise of the nutritions. But that is just my opinion. Maybe try it and see if you feel better.

I hate to say this but sometimes I think all the docs think about is less, less, less....when my band slipped my doc chewedmy butt out for eating 1 cup of food over a half hour setting....which is EXACTLY The amount and time the nutritionist gave me....

I tried cheese slice today, this was a transition food for me a week ago. My lunch slice was ok but dinner was a no go, right back up.

I can say this much. I've lost interest in eating. Going back to Fluid and waiting a week to try food again.

I believe I need to eat small, 2T meals seem to be my solid food limit. I chew, its not my problem. I can feel it block me up as just my syliva sends me running to vomit. Funny, I had this for years and my revision was supposed to stop it. Ah feeling sorry for my self...

I'll give it a week and try to revisit food. I'm going to listen to my body. I'm eating from my allowed foods. I'm chewing, I'm taking pea sized bites and I'm taking my time. I'm just not ready for solids. When I am, I'm going smaller and more frequent.

I am finding this harder then I want to admit. Sorry I'm posting so much, I'm a little lost right now.

If you are about a month out, it almost sounds like a stricture. Easy fix, but let your doc know! You are having trouble with solid foods.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
