Some doctors use a drainage tube, to drain Fluid out of one of the incisions. Mine didn't use that either. I guess I lucked out. No drain no catheter. Maybe your surgeon doesn't use either :) good luck.

It doesn't hurt at all and you can't even tell it's inside you unless you pull away from it and you can tell you're attached to something. They put it in when you're asleep and take it out when you're awake on like day 2 post op. I actually was very happy to have it because that meant I didn't have to get up for 2 days lol - I didn't have any bowel movements until day 3. Feels weird when they take it out but it's faster than a needle

Ps- I never had the sensation of needing to pee or actively peeing. I was shocked as hell to see them take away the giant pitcher of urine that APPARENTLY came from me

I have been OBSESSING about the urine Catherter thing..! It makes me cringe just thinking about it >_< what does it feel like and did they take it out while you were asleep or how did the whole process go for you guys? I'm terrified of anything other than my IUD inside my vag. Lol it's just weird.

I had mine placed when I was already under anesthesia and removed right after I came out of surgery. I was only asked to take a deep breath and is it out. Didn't feel a thing. Just to let you know, the catheter is not placed in the vagina. It is in your pee hole which is totally separate from the vaginal opening. Relax and everything will turn out well. When is your surgery?

Yeah' date=' its crazy! But its a relief not having to pee when your fresh out of surgery.... Even the day after its hard! I had gas pain, I was hooked to iv I have these leg squeezers on I had to take those off, unplug my iv, get up and walk to the bathroom....[/quote']

I had to do the exact same thing. I wished they kept the catheter in to be honest. I HATED the nurses who kept me hooked up to my IV and expected me to drag it along with me to the bathroom

That was the only thing I was afraid of. It didn't hurt at all. I was asleep when it was put in and they took it out at 4 am the next morning. She told me take a deep breath and it was out.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
