Warnings, And Precautions

Recommended Posts

I've got a fill appointment on Feb 5th, and won't need any before then, so I think I'll ask while I'm there. I'm scared of eroding, but man the cramps are bad. My mom kept telling my I'd grow out of them. I didn't realize she meant when I hit menopause...:faint:

My mother told me the same thing, but it never improved until I had a baby. THAT'S the only cure for cramps. I used to be incapacitated two days a month, but after my first baby was born, bye-bye cramps.

It's a pretty drastic move, but if the cramps are THAT bad... :)

Isn't the lower stomach sutured to the band to help prevent slippage?

I think it is not sutured to the stomac to perevent perforation, and possible band erosion to the stomac. I watched a couple videos showing the full operation before my surgery, I just can not find the links right now. I asked my doctor about the risk of slippage, he told me it was almost none, he put it well, and sutured well, the technique that they use these days may not even require sutures, I know a French doc do not use sutures anymore. I searched the following video on you tube. You can watch it, it is too graphic.

There is also a video of fill, it only takes 8 seconds, I might put my own self video on youtube, If I am herassed by people here. Warning.:D

Hum, that is a bit drastic.:heh: And at 43, just the idea of having a baby makes me feel tired.

Kbattal: All those warnings hey?

Now be kind enough to post all the advantages :)

These are from the Inamed's own patient booklet. I always read about warnings, side effects before taking any any medicine. Most of them are useful for pre-and post op. patients. If you want to find the advantages, go to their site. I can only say, I am pretty happy that I have the band, it works, and I would like to it keep as long as i can.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
