I'm in Arlington and trying to pick a surgeon I've been to doctor Kim and I'm set to go to doctor Nicholson... but I would love to have a bariatric support group thats local in the Metroplex I don't have anyone that is very supportive of this... it would be great to have some workout buddies, I know doctor Kim has a support group it only meets once a month it would be good just to have some women to sit with n go through everything together and even sit and plan together especially to lean on during pre diet and post op... Brneyd79@gmail.com hope to meet some of you... I'm trying to decide right now between a sleeve or bypass... I just don't want to do this alone my mom says to do Weight Watchers for 6 months, cut carbs blah blah... as if I haven't tried all of that over and over again.... no 1 in my family has a weight problem and they just don't get it, they think they're being helpful but their comments really are negative

I am using Dr. Swanson at Baylor Grapevine. Tomorrow morning is my surgery!

Does he work with Dr. Matin? Either way, Baylor has great doctors.

Highest wt: 240

I'm 4 days post op and I guess the weight gain is from Water retention and swelling but I sure will be glad to see the scale move again!

Yes, I'm in Katy and Dr. Garth's father Robert will be my surgeon. Are you by any chance participating in the clinic's Couch to 5K program at Memorial Park?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
