Usually Biggest Parent At School Events

Recommended Posts

Years and years I've been the out going, helpful, active parent at our school... And usually the heaviest! I had RNY May 16th 2012 (262#), so a lot of people have not seen me over the summer. Tonight was a sports meeting. Wow what a difference... I wasn't the heaviest one there! We have a very small school and some didn't recognize me! I've lost 60-70 lbs (192#) since most saw last in May. I also went from a 24 pant- 4x shirt to a size 10 pant and XL shirt. Mentally it was different because when I sat down on the bench and it creaked I didn't feel embarrassed about my size!

In my heaviest time (well even now) when I go somewhere I always look to see if I am the heaviest person there. I have surgery 4/20/12 and I am down 88 pounds. I am still doing it. I think its because the numbers I see on the scale. I am still 223 as of this morning. I think I will feel better when I am under 200. Its amazing what this surgery can do in such a short time. I am one that didn't want to go in public or family outings because I was embarrassed about my weight. I hope that changes with the new changes to my body. Good luck in your journey, and Congrats :)

You ladies are so cool. Remember we will never be the biggest person anywhere. If you look carefully there is someone bigger then us.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
