I'm having my surgey done by dr. Kozar at western bariatrics surgical group and he told me that it would take 4-6 weeks until I have my surgery not to happy right now, I hope to get all of my other appointments done by 2 weeks and have the surgery sooner. But do I need a letter from the nutritionist saying I saw them? And how do they know if you went to a seminar for gastric bypass? And did anyone's surgeon make them pay for the pre op liquid diet foods they have at there office?

Hang in there it will be here be for you know it. When my doctor gave me my surgery date that 6 week went by in a flash. As for liquid diet you should have everything you need in your home already with the exception of a no sugar Protein Drink. Again hang in there you'll be ok

Good luck

They had sign-in sheets at the seminars I attended and the surgeons office had a checklist in my file that they updated as things were completed. I was doing weigh-ins every couple of weeks and they reviewed the checklist with me every time I was in the office. I can't speak for others but my surgeon's office was serious about the pre-op requirements and made no bones about compliance or no surgery. Their office does not "sell" anything in the way of food or supplements. I don't see how any doctor's office could or would want to "require" that you buy anything from them.

I was given the 4-6 week time frame too, from what I have heard that's good. I've heard it can take 6-12 months sometimes.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
