Hello,

I am also new. I have never done anything like this either. I got my lapband 1/16. I am two weeks post op. I have lost almost 30lbs so far but have been on a 400cal diet for the past two weeks and 800cal two weeks prior to that. I am ready for some real food. I am interested in what is to come and if anyone else has been banded lately.

thanks for any input that you might have.

c.m.

Welcome C.M.

You may want to jump over to the "January Bandsters" (If you haven't done so already) lots of people in the same spot and a great support system. I was banded about 4 days before you but luckly found this board before hand and it has been a great help.

Congrats on the incredible loss, even though I'm sure it's been a tought road.

Sara

Congrats on being banded and joining this forum.

January Bandsters is just an ongoing thread of people who were banded in January. Run the term "January" in the search function and you'll find it. I think you will like it since it is full of people who were banded in January dealing with issues that are probably similar to the ones you have. I was banded 1/17, and I find that thread to be quite helpful and interesting.

Love the chunky monkey name! I have been banded for 8 months and I'm down 40 lbs. I had trouble with fills. I'm on my 5th fill soon to be 6th. I am currently consuming under 1k calories a day and that seems to really move the weight loss. I am hooked on triple non fat lattes. They give me energy during the day plus some Protein and liquid. Best of luck to you on your upcoming mushy stage. Soups were my friend.

Hi! I was newly banded-2 days ago. Congrats on your weight loss! It sounds like you're doing great! I'm doing pretty good. It is hard to drink though, because I am not hungry at all. Best of luck to you. Gigi:)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
