I don't throw up but I'm tired all the time. I don't know how I will function when I go back to work next week. I'm 5 weeks post op. I get my required 60gr Protein in. I don't always get the 60oz of Water in though. I have been hitting it this last week though. I had lost 16lbs when I went to my two week follow up and only 4 more since then. Those 4 pounds took my 3 weeks to lose. I started walking the 2nd week post op. My start weight was 259 and I'm 5'3. Thanks for letting me vent.

I will be 3 weeks post op tomorrow and I'm still tired. It has gotten better, but I have to take frequent breaks because I'm exhausted.

Everyone is different so you may bounce back sooner.

Are you on regular food yet? How many calories are getting on average every day? It sounds like you're doing everything exactly right and I wouldn't worry too much about the weight loss. Five weeks probably seems like a long time but your body is doing a lot of healing and a lot of adjusting. Try to be patient and give your body time to find its own way and in its own time. Great job on the Protein and keep it up - protein is really very important. Try to get as much of your daily protein from real food (as opposed to shakes or bars) as you can. Turkey, fish and chicken will all give you big protein. Going back to work will likely increase your metabolism and probably jump start your weight loss. How frequently are you walking and for how long? I'd say give it another couple of weeks and if your energy level isn't coming back, you'll probably want to discuss it with our doctor. You're gonna love the new you!!

I was also tired during my third week. Now that I'm five weeks, I'm no longer tired. My doctor want me to get in 80 grams of Protein and 64 oz Water a day. You might need more Protein and Water. I felt better when I started having more protein and water. Hope you feel better.

I am eating regular food but trying to not eat a lot of carbs. Most of my protein still comes from the premade shakes. I have been usinng the pure protein and the premier nutrition ones. I drink 2 a day. I like deli turkey but it gets stuck about half the times I have tried to eat it. I have been walking about 4 times a week for anywhere between 45 minutes to an hour. I also started on B12 sublingual 2500 mg daily. I think I am averaging about 600-800 calories daily. I have my 6 week follow up on Monday. They should give me a b12 shot that day.

I want to increase my protein but scared the extra calories will further stop my weightloss efforts. I'm hoping that it will be better once I go back to work. I will try increasing my water also. Thank you.

Wow - great job! It's possible the extra protein and calories would increase your metabolism and your body would respond by burning more stored fuel. I wouldn't worry too much about the extra calories. My surgeon requires all of her patients to have 100g of protein a day and I've averaged just under that (95g) for eight months. You really are doing a terrific job. Just keep doing what you're doing and the weight will start dropping like a rock. Congratulations!!

Wow 100 grams seems so hard to get to. I definitely can't give up on my pouch. It took too long to get this surgery approved to give up. I'll keep working on more protein and Water. Thanks so much for the advice and motivation. This group has been so helpful. I am so glad I found you all. One of the nurses at the bariatric center recommended the site.

Do you like fish? Its so easy to eat and full of protein!

I love fish and have been wanting some salmon for over a week. I have to find a easy to follow recipe. I was used to eating a lot of ghd breaded stuff preop. It doesnt go down well post op. I love tilapia and catfish as well.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
